Today I borrowed the new Naish 12'6" BOP board from the Zu shop in St Kilda.. It was tough paddling in the 20-30 knot onshore wind but once I got across to the protection of the Marina it was ok.

This was the 30" wide AST model and it went great.. I'd love to take it out and back through some small surf.. I also took some pictures but here's a (boring) vid that I took while paddling it around within the marina.

Hey DJ,

you should've given it a proper workout in the RPS BOP style race this morning.

I actually think the Cat was designed with BOP in mind and all the Naish ream riders used it at the BOP.. This is a very.. very different board.

I liked it but don't just take my word for it.. Demo one from your local Naish dealer and see for yourself.

Had a go on the Carbon yesterday Dj and have to agree, this is a very different board to anything I have ridden before. I caught a few waves on it and was impressed with handling on the wave. Felt quick for 12'6! I just need to get used a a different feel.

the problem with cat was it filled up with water any time going out through waves or riding them. i'm glad they canned that type of board.

no disrepect to the sb fans

None taken. I think Naish may have missed the memo that explained the sunken decks were meant for flat water, not BOP.
