I paddle out to breaks on a SUP and see goat boaters and in my head I don't have much respect as in the past I have always been surfing a shortboard. But as I'm now usually on a SUP, I hate to say it but they are probably higher (or equal) on the pecking order. Reason being they have most probably been doing it (goat boating) longer than us SUPers. You don't see many guys that are new to goat boats, just older guys that sorta know what they are doing.

However, I rekon another summer and us SUPers giving surfers and mal riders respect on the water will see us jump above the goat boat on the water. I don't think boogers will ever be included in the pecking order. They just do whatever they want respect or not and get hated on. OK with me.

Oliver, you should maybe invest in a SS steamer 2/2. Most probably warmer, more stretchy and more comfortable than that longJon. That way you'll dodge the flack.
Inverloch this weekend?

Don't shoot Ollie, we need him.........

As for lids, they are O.K. as long as they are no older than 12, anyone older than this is a fairly pathetic sight.

P.S. Rezs' example below deserves respect with a capital R........

There is a physicaly disabled guy that goes down to the beach near me in his electric wheelchair. He drags himself down to the water using his arms, attaches himself to a body board via velco on wetsuit on board and then paddles out and goes for a surf............ I would say he deserves a bit of respect regardless......body board or not. At the end of the day if you respect each other and the ocean the rest shouldnt matter. Agro in the waves in unnecessary and ruins the vibe.

True. The only agro I see on the water is from surfers, usually older surfers.
And usually at the better breaks. Respect is the word!

How's it go, give and you shall receive!

Nicely said and very true. I'm all for amputees and other ****ed up people getting out in the surf - that's a good thing. If a bull shark got me I'd change my tune for sure about the merits of goat boating.

I just can't take those tossers with mullets and christian like blank smiles on their faces causing danger and annoying the thousands of other people on the beach with their pieces of noisy crap between their legs causing the fishermen, surfers, swimmers, sunbathers, nature lovers, and anyone else trying to get some well earned relaxation an earfull and oily choppy water.

Get rid of them from our beaches now! I'm drafting my letter to the council as I speak.

Tow ins, cops, rescue and documentary people on em are exempt.

And that would be only exemp to tow ins on waves over 4x head high

I thought the rule with Jetskis is they have to stay at least 200m from the nearest swimmer....is it just a case of the Police not knowing the rules?

But in saying that, the rules state you must stay 30 metres away from swimmers, been a while since i past my ski test!

Hey Mac
Im pretty sure the "Jerk Skis" need to be 60 metres away from anything else in the water unless they are doing less than 6 knots.

I think the boating rules are consistent for all water craft.

You are not to exceed 5 knots within 50m of anything else in the water unless you are in an official race or within 200m of the water's edge.

There's a few minor dispensations for some of the rules for different types of water craft (jet skis need to go a little faster just to be steerable) and enclosed craft (jet skis, sailboards, kiteboards, etc) don't need bailers.

There's nothing wrong with jet skis and I don't see how you can make a special rule to ban them if they are legally registered boats driven by licenced, responsible operators.

There is, however, shtiloads wrong with noisy, inconsiderate, ignorant arseholes, irrespective of the vehicle they are using. Personally I find petrol heads as a breed to be over represented in this group (which is embarassing because I used to be one with cars and motorbikes). It's too easy to confuse the power of this thing you went to a shop and bought with personal skill and ability. It's like buying a CD of guitar music and thinking you are Jimi Hendrix.

In WA
A vessel cannot exceed more that 8 knots within 15 metres of an underway vessel or within 45 metres of another moored vessel, person in the water, jetty or wharf, river bank or high water mark.

In addition free style jetskiing can be no more than 30 metres from another jetski, or 50 metres from another vessel or person in the water.

Boating exceed all of that everywhere I go.
