After watching the end of the Dr race the other day, I'm fired up to try some downwinders. Is anyone else interested in getting a bit of a crew together to do some downwind paddles up the coast? Getting a few people together may make it a bit more social as well as making it easier to get from the finish back to the start by possibly sharing lifts.
I'd be keen to join a downwinder paddle. I'm pretty new to Stand up about 2 months now. The longest distance so far has been a paddle from Dutchies at Cott to Port beach groyne and back. Cheers SF66
How about a SUP gathering on Australia Day? Any ideas on a location? Somewhere for the whole family? Maybe an early start with a breaky? 7-10am? Before the breeze comes in. Are we talking river or beach? We could go to Metts and line our boards up on the beach. The kids can swim in the protected reef there. Nice calm water while we get some waves out the back. Or Watermans. Theres a nice park on the hill which over looks the swimming area, waves and beach.
Ran your idea past the missus Greenie and got the thumbs up. We're south of the river but anywhere you recommend up that way will be fine by us. Apparantly its going to be 39deg so an early start would be good. I have a three year old boy that loves supping.
Id be keen for either. I havent been for a SUP at any Northern beaches yet!
Jenkz I live South the river also. Id be keen for a after work downwinder say Portbeach to Cott or Swanbourne and anbody else that has the time for a paddle after work.
very keen lads. just made a monkey of myself askin about downwinders when this topic has been roaring like the forties with you all. I was thinking of a north marina or even inside it then cruise to pinnaroo or mulls.
Yes thats an option to go from the marina to Mullaz but going from Trigg to Hillarys is much better. Not only is it a beautiful stretch of coast but you can stop along the way at a number of spots to catch a few waves
