The first quote is from Jeff Henderson who is pretty up on the whole stand up thing.
The second quote is from a guy called Rand who has clearly paddled a truck load of boards and seeing he is riding down to 9'6" on a custom Jimmy Lewis I'd guess he knows a thing or two.
In Rand's comments he rates the Ku Nalu which is the same shape as the Starboard 12'2"

"I have come up with a little rating system that may be helpful to newbees to the sport who are shopping. Please add boards, or suggest better way to do this. Just for fun. Results are what I think from my experience, looking at the boards and listening to those who have used them.
Ratings are 1-100 with 100 being perfect.
Brand, Model, p=Paddle rating, S= flat water sailing rating, W=wave sailing/surfing rating
Star 12"2 = P80, S/40, W/90
Star 12"6 = P100, S/70, W/60
SOS 11'11" = P100, S/40, W/90
SOS 10'10" = P80, S/30, W/95
Exo Kona = P50, S/100, W/10

"I would suggest a couple of tweaks. Let's add a category for SUP flat water paddling and seperate out SUP Surfing. Additionally, it may be more hepful if the poster lists his/her height and weight, so the suggestions can help people of a similar size make a good choice.
