We had a cracker of a weekend at the Roar. The comp organization was flawless even with the cyclonic conditions Sat morning Jacko managed to get the show on the road and get through all the heats as planned. It really is a pleasure to compete in such a professionally run event – brilliant commentary with scores read out as a rider completes their ride makes for great spectator viewing. As soon as you come in the scores are available on a computer printout and the draw is updated. The judging is unbelievably consistent as well.

Us NSW boys were stoked as we manage 3 out of the top six, which at a QLD state titles is no mean feat. Me and Casso got equal 5th and Noel Graham was 4th. The top 3 Qlders – Billy, Keahi and Jackson ripped all weekend with Jackson’s paddle power on the McT allowing him to get the bomb sets and rip the bag out of them in the final- getting the nod over Billy and Keahi. I love watching these guys surf their heats as you learn so much about contest surfing!

The Ladies had 12 entrants and the standard was pretty damn good! Stoked to see Mel and Kristi Page make the final – OG (Phil) will be over the moon! Sorry I don’t know the full results as we had to leave before the presso to get our plane. The racing was fun as well with a great heat format that was good for spectators and competitors alike. Sat night was a blast with AA and PSH putting on free grog and a nice display of the sexy new PSHs.

I would like to say a big thank you to Angie and Jacko who must have put tons of work into this event. It really is the premier SUP surfing event in OZ at the moment and with the 2 divisions (Amateur and Pro) everyone gets a fair go. Add the racing into the mix along with a social event on the Sat night and you have a real fun weekend right there! As Arnie would say “I’ll be back”.

Yeah have to agree Jacko & Angie put on a first class event , these guys have really put back into the sport.

The conditions were far from ideal but nobody was bitching it was a really good vibe. The pro boys just ripped it up and it was great to see so many girls competing, the amature division was heaps of fun and a great introduction into competing in a professionally run contest.

Great to see everyone who made the trip from VIC & NSW and an especially good effort to Dogman getting there at 9pm the night before and sleeping in his car.

Thanks again Jacko & Angie "A" GRADE COMP.

Well said Goaty. Awesome event Mr and Mrs Jackson.

You wouldn't have been able to ride those waves on a shortboard or mal - love the SUP.

We'll get great waves at a major comp one day ... surely.

The highlight for me was watching you run up the beach, Rob. It looks like you have been hanging out with Iron Trevor a bit.

Congrats to winners and all competitors. I saw the spread of Naish boards that were nicely laid out and was amused by the sight of that really short SUP board that had extreme width...

I viewed some heats from my sup board and could clearly hear the commentator out on the water. The pro guys sure made the best of v small waves.

As a matter of interest was the comp area closed to other surfers?

cheers frog

I totally agree Roar has got to be one of the best comps I have ever been to!
The vibe was amazing even when it rained for like 2 hours straight, no one complained and everyone enjoyed themselves
It was great to meet many different 'breezers - put faces and names together!
Thanks again to Angie and Jacko for putting so much hard work into it the comp it was fantastic.
AA thank-you for helping me with a board to race with.
Thanks to Lacey for lending me boards, dropping me off at the airport and all the other countless things you did for me - your a legend!
And anyone one else who helped me at Roar Thank-You So Much!

Hi All,

Thanks for all the support as without you guys, there would be no one competing.

Yep we have massive plans for next years event!!

It took a pretty big effort by Roar Crew to get it all happening with Surfing Queensland.

Well done to all those that got results. I couldn't believe the rain we got on Saturday !! but everyone still had a good day. Sunday turned out picture perfect but just needed some waves LOL.

Surely next year will be much better for swell, as i couldn't see it that small 2 years running.

Massive thanks to all Sponsors and expo guys. Great to see big name Sup companies giving back to Sup community.

Everyone had a great 2 days and us at Roar look forward to bringing you a BIGGER and Better comp next year, so to those competitors that missed out make sure you don't leave it to long to enter next time.

Once again thank you all.

Cheers Roar Ind

Angie and Jacko sweet vibe, fantastic organization and such a solid crew around you anything is achievable. This event sets the standard in SUP Surfing.

Surfing QLD the judging was solid and the scores came out fast letting everyone know what was happening.

I think I blew out my phone bill getting scores but it was worth it.

Lacey your a legend.

The standard of the surfing in those conditions was really high, everyone gave it their all and then some.

Add us to the list for next year please.

Phill

Yes, great effort guys. Angie and Jacko showed everyone what is possible.

There is more to these events than the competition and this event delivered even in very testing conditions.

I spoke with quite few people after the event and everyone commented on what a friendly no BS crew the SUP crew is!

Lets keep it that way! Stoked to be a part of it!
