So I've decided that I want a SUP but I also decided that I was going to build it myself (this will be my 3rd board). But I have a couple questions, backround is that I'm a "competent" surfer living in manly.

Question 1 - about rocker, it's going to be 11'6" andd look a bit like the Hawaii'n Pro Designs ALII (I've got a thing for DT's designs and I'm a fan of pin tails on longboards). I'm starting to put it together now in the AKU shaper but I've got 6' of rocker in the nose and 41/4' in the tail. It seems like a bit much to me but I'm not sure.

Question 2 - how hard or soft should rails be?

Question 3 - how much volume do I need? I'm 6'5" and 103kg my current design is 185 liters but I havn't started the rails or bottom profile yet.

dims are 11'6" x 29' x 4.5'

Any help would be great especially to question 1

Cheers
CC

Rails soft and all the rest sounds pretty good. Just give it a go or you will never know.

What are you going to use it most for - ie: long distance, flat water cruising, surfing, learning etc? The length, width, volume, weight should reflect what it's going to be used for.

Going to use it mainly for surfing, it would be used on beach breaks on the Northern Beaches (longy, Manly) and maybe some point to point paddles if I'm fit and I wan't to paddle to Curly (live in manly) and it would also travel with me when I go on road trips
