I saw Rossco out the back on Saturday on the Mc Sup, but I was about 450m+ away from where he was surfing.

I have to say for his 1st time on the board and with the extreme amount of traffic he was doing really well.

Rip it up Rossco

Brendon the reason I posted these pics is its the first time I have seen someone who can surf well riding one of these Mc Sups

I can tell you from seeing Ross on the DC 9'4 that he has some great forehand and backhand moves so he could write a more than credible review on his thoughts.

I was trying a demo board....still waiting for my DC!!!!....and given that the last few surf's I have had have been on my son's 9'5" mana, it was pretty different. On the whole, it seemed ok on my first try and would be better with some more familiarity. I had it set up as a quad, so I think you would want to see whether it is better as a 2 + 1. I think I needed to be further back to get it going better.

One really annoying thing about the board, tho, is the hand hold. It is too far forward of the centre of balance on the board so that the tail of the board wants to drag along the ground when you carry it. It means that you have to use two hands to carry it. Almost a deal breaker, I think.

Took my Mcsup over to the west coast of AK yesterday, wished I hadn't bothered as it had turned to custard by the time I got there. The walk back to my car was only about 500m but I had to carry the bloody thing with both hands and on my head like my big old Laird that doesn't have a carry handle, due to the carry handle on the mcsup being too far forward and the tail dragging ..pain in the arse it was (is that a contradiction..carried on my head..pain in the arse?).

I would cut a big rectangle out of the center of the board (about the side of the side of a typical house brick) around the area of the hand hole (with the hand hole being at one end of the rectangle) without going through to the bottom of the board.. Remove the piece with the hand hole in it and spin it around 180 deg and glue it back in place hoping that the hand hole is now at the balance point.. and glass around the join.. It shouldn't be too hard to do but it will mess up the grip a bit in that area.

DJ that is the Makita solution!!!!

I would buy another handhold from shapers and put it in the right spot.

Pity they didn't get that right in the first place

I think board makers figure out where to put the
handle before fins and leg ropes are added.
Once fins and a leggie are on there it's all
outa whack!

dude just carry it tail first and pull on your leggie to hold the tail up

the 10'6 naish i have is the same tail heavy

do you remember that board DJ

your first naish board

back then you wouldnt have started carving away at it with a power saw cause it was a little tail heavy would you

by the way, mine is still carving up waves and is solid as a rock even with its little hair line crack on the rail

I would've hoped someone entering the market would have known this was an issue from previous production runs by other manufacturers.

For anyone who hasn't carried a board that has the hand-hold in the wrong place, I can promise you it is only slightly better than no hole at all!

Ronnie

OK-Back on subject- Looking good on the McSup Rossco!

Jack - they got it wrong, even without the fins. The board was brand new, so when I picked it up from the shop it didn't have any fins fitted, and it was still way out from the balance point. Adding fins just made it more wanting to drag along the ground.

Yes Dogman, that's what I ended up doing - hoding onto the leggie to counterbalance the board when I was holding it.

Hey Dale, do Shapers have handles/hand holes?

Definately an addition to my next board!

Brendon,

You can buy them from Dave Boyd at Imperial in OG, he also puts handles in boards that dont have them.

He has done about 10 or so now and everyone is stoked with the finished product.

I had 3 done and he does a superb job

Thanks Ronnie,

yup Dave has one of the deepest drop knee bottom turns you will ever see when he winds it up.

I could watch him surf all day.
