ON 31ST January I am running a stand up paddle race at Long Reef in conjunction with our outrigger race, there will be heats and finals with the winner receiving $500 first men, $250 first women if the numbers are even for entries then prize money will be even. prizes to fifth place.

$15 entry $20 entry to rent board

there will be prizes for 1st over 30's , 1st over 40's etc as long as there is 3 per division

The course will be out and in from Long Reef. Not far,

Boards may be supplied, Will be 12'6 only

NO Responsibility for any damage to boards.

It will be short as the outrigger paddlers will have done a long race before, each heat/final will be approx 15-20 minutes, I am just trying to see if there is any interest in this kind of racing

Thanks Sam.. I like the idea of shorter races..Once you get over 30 minutes the fun turns into torture..(for some)

It's still early days with this sport and we don't need to put people off by making these events too long.. even though it might suit some people.

At our last RPS race it was only 40 minutes long but some were giving up after only about 30 minutes.. and it's those who will not come back.

It's just my thoughts on all this... I hope it goes well.

I am also looking at a smaller series 5 races on flat for 12'6 divisons I will keep you all informed. I think we need to build the races and you all need to attend the races to help the sport grow. Bring your friends to watch.

If you build it, they will come.

Sounds like a great summer for racing in Sydney. Can't wait.
