As I'm heading to Mambo next week ,it occured to me after reading the programme that the wave saliors/kite surfers are all in clubs which covers them for insurance etc.
As far as I'm Aware ,and I'm hoping someone can put me in the right direction if there is a SUP Club out there I would be keen to join.

As the SUP'S for Mambo have to join the MSC ($10) which I'm more than happy to do ... so we can participate.

As SUP'S are only going to get bigger and I'm sure Mambo is only going to go from strenght to strenght and other events around AUSTRALIA ,. With everybody on this forum and others we could make our own SUP CLUB , if there isn't already ones out there.

I have recently set up a wavesailing club in QLD so have some info regarding this type of insurance.

Generally the $10 fee that MSS will charge for liability insurance will cover the event only. It is actually a bit more expensive to have year round cover. If you can find a club that will offer you insurance year round I would strongly recommend joining (SEQ Wavesailing may be able to offer something for those that need it).

The insurance cover is third party cover, the one which is supplied to us through Australian Windsurfing is for up to $10mill liability. This covers you 24 hours a day 7 days a week regardless of if you are competing or not. Given the large heavy boards that are ridden, and the amount of damage they could do to a bather, especially a child, I think it's well worth the investment. I for one would hate to loose my house due to a mishap on the water.

So if you are not already a member of a kite or windsurfing club it may be worth looking into, or if someone has a bit of time on their hands they may want to have a go at setting up an official club, it's a bit of work but worth it in the end.
