no it doesn't- trust me- i've done a bit of time on rowing machines. if your good enough and strong, yes you will go better on more resistance. if your not strong and fit etc- you will die.

just like the real thing

It seems to make a difference on our machine. It seems to pull through almost the same on 1 to 10 resistance with the difference coming from the deceleration of the wheel on the recovery.
On 1 the wheel and your speed doesn't slow as much on the recovery as when you have the setting on 10. So your speed stays more constant and your times are quicker on the lower settings from what I've seen.
Will double check that in the morning.
Sam.

Nice times there guys. Will start to rustle up some times from the shop to see if we're in the ballpark.
Not much interest is Steve's hour time trial. Must have hurt big time. Great effort.

sam, the rowing machines would be harder to pull on a higher resistance, but you would get the rewards in a longer distance, there was not deceleration. i have noticed that these machines have a manual control were the rowing machines it was electronic.

maybe thats a deficiency with this machine- you should be rewarded =when using a higher resistance. i have been told that a certain rowing machine has a sup paddling converter option.

apologies to toddws

He was racing against Chris (supracer) who did 8km up the creek and back at the same time. Steve won it by a mile! But he was pushing bloody hard the whole way.
After watching Steve's effort, I can't say I'm too keen on the 8km either, today was my first try and I was worn out after the 500m sprint.

Hey Peeps,

We've been running a Stand Up Paddle Perth 500m Challenge in the shop over the last week.

We've been running our challenge on setting 4 for resistance. It pretty well emulates the feel and resistance of the raceboards we have been paddling. My time on the raceboard and times on the Ergo over 500m have been within seconds so it's definitely close.

Our best time on setting 4 is ~ 2:47. It's a hard workout. We've been doing setting 4 for experienced paddlers and setting 0 for novices. We are offering prizes for the best times at the end of each month.

It's great fun! Been some big surprizes from some of the most unlikely paddlers

Get involved!

Any chance of setting the ergo up in Piccos cafe?
Face it towards the coffee and warm muffins and I'll blitz those times.
