I'm heading to Paynesville in Vic for a weekend soon. Do any of you know the best way to get a SUP surf in from there. Is the paddle across the lake doable or do I need to drive to Lakes Entrance?

Paynesville to Ocean Grange, long paddle. Then you have to walk across the dunes to ocean side, then you get shore break close outs mainly. Suggest you drive to Lakes, or Lake Tyres beach. Happy to be corrected

Agree, better off at lake Tyres (red bluff) or even a trip to cape conron.

Very painful Benny. Thanks for the replys, I think I'll try lake tyres as it looks like it has more opportunity for a wave, will report back if it goes OK.

Yes stick to the bluff or Conran, I did the walk over the dunes at Frenchys narrows half way to Conran, look great from afar with lots of barreling beach breaks but the sweep and rips were too dangerous so had a few on the shortboard and went in, I reckon the mouth of the snowy at Marlo on the standup would be a great wave on its day, peeling lefts and rights, but out of them all Conrons the go up that way...

Ockanui has it sussed . The Red Bluff is the pick in nw winds .With easterly's head to West Cape Conran . These 2 spots are best in se swells .
With west or sw winds head to East Cape Conran . The entrance at Marlo is good on a clean day as well as the entrance at Lakes Entrance .
There is only a handful of us down that way who sup surf . The locals are cool with it . Just be friendly . Don't be greedy and make sure everyone gets waves .
