A bloke just told me they've been banned from the Alley. I've never been up there & I'm from Sydney anyway so wouldn't know. Can any of you QLDs confirm?

Funny ET. When mals got popular again in the late 80's, early 90's, I was told that mals weren't allowed out at the pass.
Very aggro as well. Pppphhhhttttt.

The water police sat off the rock a few weeks back and tried to tell us we couldn't windsurf in the Alley as it was too busy.

No one took any notice so they went away.

Spent some time out at the Alley on Sunday arvo and it was like nothing I had ever seen or expereinced. There were a good handful of windsurfers cutting back in past the top rock and right through the crowd of shortboarders. I'm not one for having a whinge and most of the windsurfers were competent with their craft but it was unsafe at times and there was definitely no considerations for others sharing the space. Frequent occurance of a guy sailing out from having just caught a wave then turning only 100 m or so off the back of the pack to catch another straight away. The guy with the RPS sign on his sail was the worst offender and created a lot of fricton with a number of people.

So here it is, a stand up paddleboarder having a whinge about poor etiquette!!

Well Herbert and Husq it is pretty obvious really, well to me anyway.

NO-ONE has any etiquette.

It seems to me that even people who agree with sharing and caring throw it all out the window when it comes to catching waves or getting what they want.

Not whinging it is just an observation from a lifetime in the water.

I surf Noosa regularly and pick my times and tides. Often a local will see you in the carpark, have a chat and then proceed to totally ignore you in the water while he snakes wave after wave.

My point is that with most ( not all) people etiquette goes out the window when they are in the water.

Just saying.

There's a fat bellied, beaded dickwad trying to tell me and the rest of the world (those within ear-shot) at the pass - that...
"there is a community ban on those things here"
...you'll know him when you see him...often takes of to deep of the rock...if your politically minded start a discussion, the results are often funny xx

I think a persons true personality comes through in their surf ediquette. we have become the "me" generation. guys getting around taking every wave, not willing to share the stoke. ( and judging if others are good enough to deserve a wave ) be it surfing short boads, long boards, SUP,sailboarding. let others have a wave or two and feel the stoke of sharing one of the best activities known to man. ( don't be the one who takes everything, to be honest they look like dicks )

After hanging around at the Alley surfing a short board, paddling a sup and swimming around while the young fella surfed down in front of the car park at high tide the award for the most dangerous group on the water should go to 30+ year old beginners on mals. They are an absolute menace in amongst the grommets, running people over and going over the falls. No idea!
