Hi Guys,

I am heading over to Bali next weekend for a few weeks and am considering taking my SUP over.

Anyone been recently and got any tips????? Good chill spots to surf on a SUP? I will be supping solo unfortunately as none of my friends are into it yet.

I'm not sure if I can take my SUP on air asia or not either. Anyone flown with them? I have a 9fter.

Theresa

Arghhhh, i am going to have to get a BB gun so I can sniper annoying drunk grommets. Ha ha ha. No only joking people....I am a teacher so i can shoot a grommet down from 10 paces with my evil teacher stare.

Thanks for the link Ted the Kiwi. I will have a looksie.

hi rez
recently stayed up in Balian with some mates, we took two SUPS, a 10fter C4, and a 9'3 PSH with Virgin Blue from perth. They had a policy of only letting anything under 3m, but they never measure the board bag, we just wrote 9'6 on the bigger one in marker pen.

Suggest if you take a board pack it real well. i got some of those foam mats from the hardware store and packed them around the board, then a yoga mat and then board bag.

Whilst there keep the boards COMPLETELY out of the sun when not using. A couple of pinholes developed in both boards when we left them for a couple of hours in the sun after a surf. Its damn hot there at the mo.

Take a couple of paddles, jsu wack them in the board bag.

Balian is great for sup, long lefts and rights of a rivermouth with long walls, pretty full but great for a paddle. Watch out for Americanos, they seem to be quite roid rage fueled and talk way too loudly in the cafe overlooking the beach - a great place to sit and watch.

Airports and kuta reef is quite good for sup as well.
Selamat datang!

Ciao Theresa,
if you come over you really need to come and paddle with us.
We are located in the East side of the Island in Sanur.
SUP in Sanur is mellow and you get people out most days, no stress with surfers.
We have a group of Ladies paddling every Thursday morning.
Actually I just uploaded a Photo Gallery dedicated to the Ladies in my web site.

If its 12 foot and fat,( sounds like me ) I'll let the groms go out and I'll suck on Bintang's until dead low [}:)]

Thanks Jankie, I drove past your shop in June but didn't have time to stop, work always gets in the way

yeh, I would take your board over for sure.
Just means you will need a car as transport to get to the surf rather than motorbikes or taxis (both of which are less hassles than a car I reckon). So either a driver (not that expensive) or hire a car.
When you get there I would do a day (morning) with SUP Pete (or Jankie depending on the wind). That way you get a feel for some of the better SUP breaks around. Nice guys and they will be happy to point you in the right direction for swell/ wind and tides and it makes a difference getting out there with the 'locals' to get you going first up.
Enjoy!

Cheers for the advice everyone and thanks for the invite jankie.

Really looking forward to it......less than a week to go!!!!!!!!! So the verdict is take the board and go spend a day SUPing with the local crew. A SUP tour may be a sweet way to spend my 30th. (or take my mind off it).

DeeJay- yeah we are thinking of hiring a car this time so we can get around easier. Don't think the motorbike and SUP combo will be an option ha ha ha!

Now all I need is a Gopro to capture all the fun waves.

YEEEEEEEWWWWWW!
