Hi,

I damaged my board the other day and now looking to get it repaired. At the moment I am having difficulty getting it in for repair as it seems it is a busy time for board repairers being the summer months.

I have contacted a number of places where they have general prices online for repairs. Now I have noticed in some places, they estimate (without seeing the board) for board that is snapped is snapped in half would be about 200-250 to get repaired.

The places I have contacted, I have sent them pics and at the moment, they are quoting around 175-200 for the repair. To me it seems a bit on the expensive side so after some advice as to what people think.

Thanking you all in advance.

Speak to Mick Slattery at Surefire Boards in Helensburgh. I had him do a repair to the tail of my board that was much worse than yours looks and he charged less than you were quoted. The added bonus with Mick is that he is a super nice guy, who builds sup for a living..

Hi Hayden,

Hope you managed to get your ding sorted, I know it's a busy time of the year

One of the reasons that repairers quotes may seem a little high is that it is very hard to see what the extent of the damage is from photos. I know I have been burnt more than a few times giving rough quotes from photos as there can be internal damage, replacement of hardware like leash plugs and fin plugs etc.... and re painting that wasn't obvious from the photos.

Also epoxy takes time to cure so each process takes alot longer than PU, then there is paint matching and pin lines etc....
You may find when you take it in the price won't be as high as the repairer can see exactly what needs to be done.

Hope this helps.

A board shop in Helensburgh, WTF. When I left Sydney, Helensburgh was the end of nowhere. A little village with about 5 shops on the highway.

Times must have changed.

ET.
