Hey guys. Long time reader - first time poster.

I am thinking of taking a last minute trip to Samoa with the wifey over Easter. Looking at staying at Coconuts Resort. Hoping to take over my 8.5 pro wave and finding some nice lonely local breaks.

If anyone has been to Samoa before or can offer any advice it would be much appreciated? Ofcourse after surf advice but anything else to visit or check out would be awesome as well.

Thanks in advance.

Samoa - nice place but it rains a lot at this time of the year. Coconuts is a beautiful resort with some great waves close by and some amazing food. Your lady will enjoy herself. Not a lot of shopping but a nice place to relax. We spent 9 days there in April last year and sadly there was basically no swell during our visit. But we still found waves most days. There are lots of slabs which make for some fun takeoffs and lots of other waves of all types. Sadly we never really got any of the good ones whilst we were there. Start praying for some early season lows from the southern ocean. Lots of amazing setups. Like lots of places in the pacific there are long lulls between sets which can cause issues when there is no swell as everyone tends to go to the same place. When there is swell, like anywhere, there are loads of spots. I made this vid of our trip - first effort at editing so do not laugh too much Would I go back? Not sure to be honest.....there are lots of places I would like to go to before I venture back but I really enjoyed my time there and they have a beautiful local beer. Its certainly not northern Sumatra from a wave perspective and its not Fiji from a tourist perspective....but its a really nice place and the people are great. Well worth a visit for sure. If you fancy a glass of wine make sure you take lots of your own.

Hey Nick
I went to Coconuts a few years back with a bunch of mates to surf -I didn't take a SUP.The resort is comfortable and the food is fantastic .We went Pre Tsunami.
We went in April and we scored very solid waves the whole time -it is a seriously powerful place when the swell is above about 4 foot!
The swell direction at the time made the lefts a better option for us -didn't really get to surf the coconuts right ,but could see that with the right swell direction it would be a great wave .
A SUP would be good because you could paddle out to the breaks without a boat. You can do that on a short board but it was a bloody long paddle.
There is a surf guide based in the surf camp next door and you can hook up with him to access breaks by boat.
As already said your wife will love it as well
Have a ball and let us know how you get on
