Went on a boys surf trip a coupla weeks ago, and took lots of toys .. SUP's, surfboards, kiteboards&kites, a boat & fishing rods and we had a wild old time.

Whilst there, we were stoked to see Scotty rollup in the carpark (after an all night drive to get to the spot), have a bit of a sleep, then tear the joint up on his windsurfer. Next day, out with the SUP ... an amazing waterman. When you see the guy rip "live", it's no wonder he was world wavesailing champion.

Meanwhile, us mere mortals were lucky to score amazing conditions for the whole 10 days, including what some were calling the 'best day in 6 years'. Wind was often a bit strong (18-23 knots offshore) in the AM .. at times paddling full tilt just to stay in the one spot. Had some sweet days though. Wind swung nicely in the arvo for some wicked kitesurfing sessions.

Photo's don't convey the awesomeness of the days we had .. at times, the waves were well over windsurfer masts (which are around 4 metres high).

(for those who don't know, Scotty is one of the main designers of the starboard shapes)

Enjoy ..

Fantastic photo's Laurie, do you know which model Starboard Scotty was on? Sure looks like he has some speed in that first photo. Gotta love northern WA.

"Sure looks like he has some speed in that first photo"

And he'll be needing all that speed by the look of that wave..

He is ripping. I rekon he spends more time there than anywhere else.
I would to if I could.

Cammo, lets put a hold on the OS surf trip and head over to WA!

On one photo I can see it's a ... 5"

I was going to take a punt it was the "Drive" (10'5) .. but it's a quad fin? Is it the Pocket Rocket 8'5" ?

Here's Scotty "The Legend" McKercher exiting the building with board. I have so much respect for this guy - he's been going hard core for decades & is still cranking at it. Awesome.

Yep pretty sure that's the 8'5", that's funny, they recommend them for on-shore mushy stuff - maybe Scotty forgot to read the catalogue!

Great stuff.

That aint the 8'5 pocket rocket, it's a swallow tail and has much fuller nose than the board he's holding

Yeah the 8'5" has flyers as well. I thought in the surfing shots it was the 8'5 but on closer inspection doesn't look like it. I can't be bothered going to the website. Either way it goes pretty damn good!

Excellent shots Laurie well done.

Don't think you will find that board in the catalogue just quietly. Interesting how the designer does not use the stingers wide tail and nose in good surf. Could be good news! Might see a new 'pro' range soon for good surf : )
