The 96 Naish arrived today and it looks great. Hope to get out on it tomorrow.
I was wondering if anyone could explain the use of the screw in the deck.

Always have tight I assume when in the water.

What about when on the car roof? in the sun? in the shed?
Is it screwed in tight most of the time, or released in certain situations?
Under what circumstances?
Thanks Robdog

its a vent plug. same princeble as windsurfers, I would say keep it in most of the time, But when its left in heat (in or on car), taken to high altertudes(planes, or driving to a high area), etc, take it out (well loosen it)

i think its mainly used to stop the board from getting de-lamination

some people have it closed always, Some open and close it everytime they go to and from the water,

I personally open mine if its going to be in the car for a long time, If its not going to be used for a while, and i always try to open and close it atlease once a month to release pressure

Hope this helps

always always always screw in when on water...do not FORGET...make it part of your routine to check b4 you head out.....

keep it screwed in winter if you want....(some people like to unscrew all yr round though)....

cars and sheds in summer....defo unscrew.

NOTE sometimes worth checking to see if they have actually drilled a hole where the screw vent is.... i've had 2 boards (windsurf) where the mfctr has forgot... to test u can either suck on the hole....>>>> not recomended for epoxy dust isnt good for the lungs...OR on a hot day put a few drops of soapy water around the vent whilst screwed in, let the board warm up in the sun, then unscrew vent and see if u get bubbles....>>> no bubbles = no hole get the drill out!
