Aloha guys. I just got a new board and one of the side fins screw hole came stripped. Is there an easy way to fix this? Had anyone ever had this problem before. I know I didn't strip the hole because when I put the fin in for the first time the screw just kept turning and didn't tighten. It's so bad that I can wiggle the side fin and the screw will back itself out of the hole. I was hoping for the best, but now I fear the worst that the fin box may need to be changed. Thank you for any advice or suggestions to help fix this problem.

Tap the hole the next size larger and put in a bigger set screw.

Put some epoxy in the hole then put the screw in with the fin in place while it sets. When you take the screw back out it will create another thread.

Bit like what Zeusman said except use a Helicoil Thread Repair Kit

Thanks guys. I will try the epoxy as that sounds the most simplest fix. Baysup, what is the Helicoil Thread Repair Kit? Is the Helicoil stronger? Thanks.

There is a simple instruction on how to fix this on the futures fins site.

The Helicoil kit comes with a tap to make the thread larger (the next size up) and also included is a threaded sleeve that screws in allowing you to use your existing fin screws agin. You can use the board as normal, removing fins as normal using the original grub screws and tool. It will be as strong as it ever was.
Most engineering outlets will have Helicoil Kits

The Helicoil kit sounds like a good option. Thanks for the advice. Aloha.

As an emergency quick fix you can also use a drinking-straw - cut a piece off, insert and screw grub-screw back in.

Pretty much what I did, except I filled the hole with sun-cure epoxy resin. (might be the same thing they meant). I haven't drilled or tapped the hole yet, cos I'm waiting for some more sun so i can let the epoxy resin set. I was just gonna drill and screw the grub screw in, and not tap the thread first.
The deeper resin in the hole takes longer to harden cos there's no sun light getting down there and coming home from work after sunset doesn't help my cause.

Thanks everyone for your help. I talked to the guys at Blue Planet Surf here in Honolulu and they took care of my problem. Rob (owner) did an excellent job and he did it in one day. Rob filled the stripped hole with epoxy, let it dry and harden completely, drilled the hole and retap the hole. If you guys are ever in Honolulu, you guys should stop by Blue Planet Surf (not affiliated, but stoked that they helped me with the repair and did it fast). Rob assured me that the repair would be strong and this is how Futures Fins recommend fixing a stripped screw hole. Now the the board is good to go, but now I gotta find time to get into the water. Aloha.
