Just looking at the posts and couldn't believe how many times some people have posted on the breeze. It's great to see some really good written jousting between crew, but I think Laurie needs to build a surfing, kiting and downwind game to give some of you a different fix or create a forum topic called Seabreeze anonymous.

Hey Adapt,

It was once told to me that Seabreeze is an internet game show, none of it is real. Take very little of it seriously and remember, almost half of the registered members remain anonymous and would not say the stuff they write on the breeze to you in person, so take it or leave it. If it ticks you off, leave it.

Most on here are here to help, and others are here for entertainment reasons. You be the judge, and take nothing to heart.

Enjoy the Breeze! Sometimes you have to sift through a lot of chaff to get to the wheat.

I've been a Breezer since March and have found 99% of fellow breezers very helpful. There is only 1 loose cannon that remains very anon who posted a not so nice post about yours truly.
He took it down within an hour.
Breezers clock up a lot of posts in the general forum - have you checked that out ?
I jumped in there one night and felt like I just stepped into the Jedi Bar. Wow, that's an experience. The Sup forum certainly has much more stability.
I reckon the average age of Sup forum would be 35. This is why it's a good forum with not many d---heads. The SB forum is a different story. IMO of course.

I recon the SB forum would on average 30-35 and a few are over 40. Im 40 this month, should I start longboarding now and SUP when Im 50?

Looking at age thingos, I can see why people get SUPs for back problems ect and older folk getem cos it gets them in the water and x-shortboarders are all over it but what I dont get is kids getting into it from a young age. I would have thought that young uns would be into shortboards first and then maybe SUPs once they get the skills on a smaller board.
BTW Im not having a go its just an observation

Well when I was a kid, I never wanted to LB. And I was dead keen on SBs, I guess my old man put me on a small foamie and away I went. Even when I was older 15ish all I wanted was a thruster to replace my old single fin.
I guess things were different back in the 70s & 80s, no SUPs no mobiles farkin less people ect. Lots of fluro ect as well.

Dunno goatie, just puttin it out there?

I was the same frothed over shortboards as a kid.
All i wanted was a 6 channel fluro board with a wicked paint job.

Now almost 40 and living around crap waves SUP seems logical.

Well I personally don't have back/shoulder/knee problems or am I too unfit to ride a SB - was winning regionals O40s in SB when I turned 41. Maybe some of us got into SUP because it seems to be actually MORE FUN than SB. Maybe that's a reason some kids might get into it as well.

Fair enough, but, since you have been a shortboarder what part of SUP is more fun than SB? I mean the gear is way more expensive and is harder to use in the surf.
I guess you can use them when there is no surf and thats a plus. The vid that AKS put up not long ago where he was looking at sharks and rays on a flat day, i enjoyed that vid and thats something that you couldnt do on a SB or LB.

Ive been reading with intrest a thread in the windsurfing forum about the popularity and decline of the sport and alot of posts sugest that kids just cant afford the kit to get started unless their olds are into it as well.

Hell, if I had the cash I would go and buy a windsurfing kit right now!!
And a LB.
And maybe, just maybe a sup.....(a bigish one I could fish off)
Looking athaving a go on a kite on the weekend, that should be interesting

Well for me the main thing that makes it more fun is the fact that performance is better in less than perfect waves. And by performance I don't mean tighter turns, rather more speed and power in gutless waves. More fun in big stuff also as easier to get into = catch more waves.

Other reasons: catch more waves in a shorter session, get more exercise, can escape crowds quite easily by sacrificing quality and paddling a ways. I love competing and the crew is very friendly.....hell I could go on.

It is unbelievable for fitness, I am fitter now than I was 10 years ago.....will stop now, starting to sound like a SUP salesman

PS, regarding expense, I was into (and still am) Mtn Bikes and SUP is cheap compared to that - or snowboarding!

Yea mate I can see your point and I have used a SUP in the surf (small) and you are right with the small wave thing they do have that glide. I did love surfing the longboard that I used in Byron, so much glide and for a big board (well it was for me) could turn very well for the length (7,8 Mct Carver).
All good points
