For those into DVD's...SUP DVD's...you will know there are not many.

The first SUP dvd was this...

and then came this...

/images/misc/forum-image-missing.gif

and very soon there will be this (sorry about the fuzzy pic)...

The Hawaiian style dvd guys sent me their first dvd hot off the press (almost a year ago now)..

...and I've been in touch with them a few times now about their second dvd..and it shouldn't be long now..

From what they've told me..It's gunna be great.

Instructional SUP DVD's= BORING
Its not that hard to stand on a 30" wide board and paddle. Not saying Im a master but theres no need for "learn to balance, volume 3" or "learn to paddle, volume 2" DVD's
Who would buy that kinda stuff?
Wheres the SUP surf vids?
People riding croozy waves with a groovy soundtrack

i bought the first one at a time when i was a novice and i thought it sucked, to be blunt about it. too much filler, too much incredibly basic stuff, even for a novice. i sold it on ebay for $5. i hope they do better w/ vol 2. and i especially hope they get a lot of ivan in there doing his knee-down and drop knee stuff.

I didn't mind the first one..but I have to agree it was a bit too much on the beginner and basic side...It was just good to have a sup dvd at last.

The next one promises much more advanced stuff and lotsa good wave riding..and maybe some serious down winding stuff.

SUP'ing is advancing so quick..by the time it comes out some things will have changed..

Those who can't get in the waves much these dvd's are the next best thing.

This was my last email from Ivan.

Hi David

We are just waiting for the final winter Hawaii footage to come in and we’ll be editing it- so I’ll keep you posted in the next month or so—got some good stuff so sure you’ll enjoy it.

Ivan

btw...I think it's the same Ivan as the Ivan in this vid..and if the new vid's anything like this it should be great..

Did I say 'serious down winding'...I ment 'serous break winding'..

Really..I'd love to see some of those new hi tech down winding boards..and also footage of them down winding in 30-40 knot winds in the open ocean.

dj: it's the same ivan. i emailed him a long time back and asked him to make sure he got his down-knee stuff included on vol 2. he promised me he would. and i hope he does. for my moolah he's the most stylish SUP guy around. heck, if the video had ivan doing all the riding, i'd buy it just for that. i'm a fan.

The windsurfers were ripping it up...and Laird was also out there sup'ing..

Here's a pic of it...I can't wait for Lairds next dvd...

Anyone know roughly what size SUP the Hawaiian guy in the video was ridding ?
Seemed super fast and super maneuverable for an SUP or at least of what we have seen !

Thanks for your input in advance

Hey WindWarrior that Hawaiian guy (Ivan) in the vid is actually Sth African.

He owns COREBAN Stand up paddle co... http://www.coreban.com/about.html

My guess is that he's on the X-CORE..10'6" x 28" (maybe 30")......but he could be on a custom made board for him.

Here's another nice vid of him..This time on a Jimmy Lewis board..

Also check out this vid of him on a 7' Starboard (kids windsurfer) and you can hear his voice...
