Had an arvo session today on Port Phillip Bay today. Started off calm and flat, paddled from my local sailing club to the creek mouth, found some glassy water to glide around on for a while.
When I came back out into the open water, the wind had picked up. It highlighted how hard it is to paddle these things into a strong headwind. I then had to paddle parallel to the beach, and the wind and waves, to get back. There is a real skill to letting the board 'work' underneath your feet, and using your legs as shock-absorbers, whilst paddling hard and looking at the horizon. I knew I'd had a workout after an hour and a half of this!

Sounds a bit like us yesterday ! you certainly start learning things quick when you have to, or you will be drifting off into a shipping channel or keep falling off. I reckon i learnt heaps yesterday in 2hrs, really steep learning curve in conditions like that.
