G'day everyone it's me again with another question.I've started getting my sea legs now and I've noticed that when I'm just crusing along paddling the paddle feels fine nice(high powerfull strokes). But when I'm attempting to catch waves I crouch more and take shorter strokes and swap sides inorder to change direction and the paddle feels to big.Is this normal or should I cut an inch or three off.

hi, looks a bit quiet on the answer front for you. yes, that's the reason a lot of paddlers go to 6 or so inchs above their heads as a surf lenght paddle. but then your paddle is going to be shorter and maybe harder to use when paddling normally.

however the surfing part is the main reason you are out there
cheers

Yep- I find in SUP surfing that it's been good to go shorter due to the lower crouched stance and quick transitions of the paddle from one side to the other.

Check out the Board Talk & Reviews page for a current discussion we're having on this issue.

How much shorter? That's what I'm finding out now.
