So I'm having a good morning surfing a fun beachy, head high waves, only one other guy out. You know....a good morning. I'm paddling for a wave when "crack" my paddle shatters 12 inches from the blade. I'm gutted. its not just the money but the time out of the water which is going to kill me. Question is....I liked that paddle shape and blade, they are a market leader but I have heard of other people who have had the same issue with their paddles. So whats a good paddle on the market these days? whats everyone riding with?

I have snapped three inthe same place as you discribe they have been replaced under warranty. That is great but you are with out a paddle for week ,so I have gone to a Jimmy Lewis quick blade so far so good.

Check the Hobie line up of paddles.
I've used them myself, used them with our hire
customers, in surf and flatwater.
Non slip shafts, dihedral blades, ergo handles etc.
They do not FLUTTER thru the water.
I'm 85 kegs and use em every day.
Never had an issue with them.
They're tops I reckon!

I have had a C4 carbon paddle for almost 4 years. Super strong and light. I leave it in the back of my van permanently and have never had an issue. It dealt with my raw beginnings up until now. People tell me if I keep trying I will be able to do a turn soon I drop this paddle on the road, lend it to friends etc etc. I don't even worry about it it's that strong.

I recently bought the full Carbon Kevlar C4 also for DW paddling. I really like this paddle as well, the kevlar shaft flexes well and i could not be happier.

I have never had a bad experience so I'm sticking to what works for me.
