Hey what a great morning. I woke up all excited at 4am. Got on the water at 6am and didnt get out until 1130am.
I first went out on the Starboard 8'5. What a smoking hot board! If you want a sick little board with a quad fin set up and is loose as a goose, then this board is for you. For me its a bit too much like shortboarding. No groove and no soul. Plenty of wack and smack for those top cats on acid
Then grabbed the Starboard 11'2 and felt right at home. Head high, down the line and even a few barrells. WOOT! Got some big hoots from the longboarders.
SUP surf for life
Anyone else in WA make the most of the offshore and dropping 4m swell?

Damn this work caper.
Enjoy that spot fairly regularly as the folks only live just down the road. The longboard crew there are pretty laid back as long as you don't barge in straight up. Was Gearys working okay?

Yeah the longboarders are cool. Ive sweeped there a few times. Some of the longboarders and other sweepers are windsurfers and kiters who I know as well from the area.
Gearies was firing. I drove past about 12pm on the way home.
Everywhere looked good.

That spot looks familiar.

As usual there is always one pillock out at every break, this spot has one that's a total f##kwit. Today everything was mellow until he paddles out shaking his head and mumbling crap under his breath, little did he know we where all getting along fine before he come and sat his alcoholic arse in the line up. He delibrately tried to stir up some aggro, I actually had to go in to get the squids from school but I heard later he continued on after slagging me off for taking all the set waves. From the beach it may appear that way, 2 mal's and 2 Supper's out guess who he focused. The mal's would both take the first 2 waves, not my fault all good things come to those that wait.

I'm not up for aggro, but next time this prick paddles out on his mal without a leggy, because he thinks his so good. I'll be sure to ask him not to endanger the rest of us with his out of control board which he doesn't in fact ride as good as he thinks he does.....Goose.

Anyway it was a great 2 hours, I'm ready for some more tomorrow at a different location

Thats kinda got me all confused now Sammy?
He did paddle out and threw himself all over the break. Dropping in, snaking etc and as he was flying down the line I was so bloody tempted to drop in on him but just couldnt do it. As he paddled back out he says to me 'Gday mate' and he stops and has a chat. Hmmm I thought friendly bloke but has no clue.
Anyway back in the carpark he shakes my hand and introduces himself to me and we talk about windsurfing, surfing, me being Coreys son (hahaha) and his dodgy hip which I have you know he is going in for surgery soon and will be out of the water for at least a year if not more. He was also going home to drink like a fish and mentioned he was going to head back out after.
But like you I think his lack of surf etiquette and no leggie needs attention

I won't name the guy, but he has been the same way for 20 years. Used to rag on anyone not local when they came to sail, or surf in "his Break" to the point of getting real aggro. Yet you catch him on the beach in a good mood and he can be very friendly. The split personallity to me is a good reason why smoking the weed every 3 minutes for a lifetime is not such a good idea.
One day he will stop and have a chat, the next he will be throwing daggers.
But he doesn't always get out much as he hates the crowds, so you only have to deal with him when it is quiet.

Yeah, I know him, his name and his problem. Thing is he had been watching from the carpark for a while before going out and got himself into a mental frenzy before knowing we were all having fun. Except the short boarders, but why they waste that swell at that location I don't know.

Anyway lets not waste anymore time on that goose, here's a pic where I went out today.

2 more days and I'm not going to need my wetty for 2 weeks..... yay!!!

Yeah it is a board, I saw this guy catch some real nice ones, so I pulled the camera out from me wetty and he got stage fright. lol

Oh yeah the atmosphere was surprisingly chilled, but I try and stay away from the crowd on this beachy.

Yeah Yeah Hilly, don't need to rub it in mate.

Did I mention we will be getting between 4-6ft everyday if the conditions continue like the past month.

Hope the swell picks up for you mate.

How much are return flights from Perth to Sydney these days anyway?

Just did a bit of research re flights.
Would it be easier to fly to Sydney or Canberra?
Jetstar have return flights Perth to Sydney for about $370. But then I would have to get a ride from Sydney to Merimbula. They dont fly to Canberra.
Virgin Blue have flights to Canberra return but will have to fly via Sydney for about $460.
Lets say hypothetically that if I do decide to go to the Mambo I would need to find a ride from Sydney or Canberra. Google tells me Merimbula is about 444km from Sydney and 257km from Canberra.
I would fly in Wednesday arvo and fly out Monday morning and would also need a place to stay.
Also I would need a board or two and some windsurfing gear
As you can see its such an effort just to get over to the other side of Australia
