Today at my local beach a guy on a sup was totally greedy he was onto everything.
One occasion he has taken one from out the back pulled off that wave and straight onto the next wave while all the prone surfers where sitting waiting.

No wonder SUP gets a bad name with greedy guy's like that.

No, as the other prone surfers were paddling for the wave
he would say thing about a paddle, I couldn't make it out.
And really couldn't be bothered at the time. But his actions
did no favours for the sport.I know a few guy's were filthy
with him.

Hey Makaha,

If the boys in the water get fired up enough, I'm sure that it will resolve itself.

Sit back open a nice red or a cold beer and relax on the beach and watch it all unfold.

Nothing like free entertainment in the outdoors I say.

I took a log out to my local on Thursday morning rather than a SUP.

A guy came out on an 8'4 Naish and straight away took the set wave........we waited (me, 2 mals and a shorty) and he paddled past us, swung around and into the next one wave set.

We waited and waited and yep, he paddled straight past into the next one wave set, as he took the drop, I called him and he told me to F--K off as he wizzed past.

We sat.....he paddled back out, told me to F--K off again, told me that he'll take every F--ken set wave he wants and it was the longboarders that started it so F--K off.

I told him to pull his head in and that he is the type that give the sport a bad name and his efforts relect on all SUP'pers at that spot - he is a local there but obviously does not care.

He got out next wave (of course the one wave set), went home, got changed then came back in his car and watched....assumed waiting for me to get out so he could continue.

What a tool !

I hope he reads this.......mate, you are a knob - and all those around you on Thursday thought the same.

Years ago my Granddad stopped to help someone who had run out of petrol. The petrol can he used was distinctively marked. With crosses or his name (I don't remember exactly)

When the guy tried to pay him Pop said words to the effect of. "just pass it on to someone else when you see them stranded".

About two years later Pop ran out of petrol. Someone turned up and gave him his own can back. It had done the rounds for two years.

Life has a way of dishing out justice.

It mightn't happen straight away but it will happen

I love your photos but sometimes you come across as a whinger. Surfers always compete for waves if a prone paddler or mal or sup dominates the pack that is the norm rather than the exception. Occasionally you go out with just your mates and you share 99% of the time you compete with alphas for waves no matter what craft they are on. If you were on a log why not paddle deeper??? 8 4 v 9 foot think it is pretty even. Toughen up princess ;-)

First time I've ever agreed with Hilly - got a great chuckle from the "alpha" comment btw. Maybe Hilly should get drunk and bang away on the forum more often.

Surfanimals does take good pics but yep.... comes across to me as someone who took his art's degree and left wing uni politics way too seriously.

Or maybe his dad just didn't hit him hard enough as he was growing up?

A 'Log' is not 9'0 !

I'm not gonna push an 8'4 SUP deeper when I'm riding a 10' glassed in single fin with 7 redwood stringers and no leggie - I'm happy to share but he wasn't.

Totally missed the point here fella's but my PM to you might clarify and put it to bed.

I think makaha is from the gold coast and I was out yesterday and pretty sure I know the guy in question, btw I was prone surfing
I am about to head out again and if this guy is out I will have a word with him.
He is a great guy I have met him before.

I had visions of Freddie Flintstone in the lineup...

After the second set wave is taken, you're probably free to suggest you've been waiting, and put them on notice that you are likely to drop-in next time, as it's your turn for a wave.

(As per the Margaret River Sign Board - waiting longest.... a few more of those sign boards need to go up around the country.... waiting longest is the same as "Priority" in surf contests...)
