Happy Festive season, and here's hoping you are having warmer and brighter weather than we are in the UK!
Since you are ahead of us, in terms of new gear, has anyone used the new SB Freeride/FR XL in waves or for downwind rides yet? If so, have you got any feedback? It would be much appreciated.
had a few little waves on my freeride XL and a bit of flat water stuff but no downwinder yet, nice cruisey board to paddle super stable and pretty fast.
That was me DJ was talking about with the Freeride. The board went really well on it's first downwinder with the SUPVIC crew, particularly for it's size (12'2" x 30). Obviously something like a 14' Glide, DC/NSP or Allstar is probably a better option for hardcore downwinding. Having said that, I want to persist with the Freeride because it is a really interesting board and I want to try to discover it's true potential.
I am a novice in the downwinding game as my background is predominately surfing (Starboard widepoint). The Freeride seemed to pick up waves very well and was quite stable. The times I fell off (and there were quite a few) were mainly due to exhaustion rather than any inherent stability issues.
I would be happy to give you a go of the board any time you are in town.
