There are some new models on the Starboard website - 10'5 x 30, 10'1 x 34, 9'8 x 28.5. Also the Point has been removed which is not surprising since it would probably have to race against open class boards with its 14'8 length and steering. The 9'8 x 28.5 is on the site. The 10'5 is in the forum, this is the one which interests me, but I was hoping for another 20 litres volume, its only one litre more than the 9'8 x 30.

SF, dont worry about the vol,,,

shape is more important... width at 30 should give u no dramas, unless you are a BIG bloke.

as brooko has mentioned before, volume just means how much beer the board can drink in 1 boozy saturday night sesh

keen 2 have a play on the 10'1 and 10'5

Hi Steve, Anything shorter than your 12'6 is likely to be less stable even if it is the same width. I have an 11'6 Naish which is 11'6 x 30 (230 litres). I have paddled the Starboard 11'2 x 30 (190 litres) and the Starboard 9'8 x 30 (155 litres) and the drop in stability is noticeable with each drop in size. (I am 6'2 and 100kg.) It becomes a question of how much stability you are prepared to give up to get the maneuverability you are looking for. I went to one of Sam's demo days and tried just about everything he had, it was very useful in giving me an idea of where my limits are. If you were to try the '11'2 Starboard and the 10'8 Jimmy Lewis then I would expect the 10'5 Starboard to be somewhere in between.

I was surprised at how stable the 9'8 Starboard was so perhaps the 10'5 will surprise me as well. I certainly want to give it a try. Did Sam give you any idea when it will be available?

Steve

Wonder if Starboard will have any of these new models at the Torquay SUP rally?
