Some a..holes stole our SUP quiver off the roof of the car whilst camping at Elliott Heads Caravan Park near Bundaberg in Qld on Australia Day weekend. Neighbours had fishing gear and rods, other people in the park also lost fishing gear eskies full of food and jerry cans full of fuel. It was clearly opportunistic and brazen since the car was right next to our cabin.

If anyone is looking to move a Starboard Cruiser 12'6" (full white EVA deck with grey feet insert ) or a Global Surf Industries 7S quad fin, then I, and the police, ( and the brand new baseball bat I am going to buy ) would be interested in getting their contact details. The starboard has scratches over the nose from where I surf with my border collie at Noosa.

Insurance won't cover this theft so it has cost me circa $ 3K+ and my wife and I (and for that matter my dog) are without boards. We came home early from a disaster of a trip.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Yuk. That's just disgusting. I hope they catch the bastards and you get your boards back.

I'll definitely keep an eye out in the Sydney area in case they head this far down.

Any unique characteristics for the 7S Uber Fish?

That sucks, for you and your dog!

This brings me to a question, how do you ID your board? Is there a way you can engrave your ID into it somewhere? Mine has unique stickers, but can be easily peeled off.

PRESS RELEASE- With difficult economic times looming, surfers need to be careful and hold on to their kit. The whole ethos of the Surfboard Tracker company (SBT) is about making surfing and board-sports in general an enjoyable experience, keeping cherished boards safe from opportunists' greedy hands.

The Surfboard Tracker company was founded and is owned by Andrew Smith, a surfer from Wales, in the UK, who has put a lot of time, dedication and effort into SBT following the theft of his whole quiver while in Hossegor, France two years ago. Since then with the help from some prolific names in the business and some hard graft and personal expense, Andrew has successfully designed, introduced and launched a whole new system for surfers and snowboard shapers and retailers to help stop board theft.

The SBT operation is set to morph into other extreme sports areas like skiing and bikes, plus the launch of the "SBT FOR THE RIDE" retro fit system. You best believe it, there are rogue elements out there seeking to exploit surfers, manufacturers and retailers.

The SBT system is a small device inserted deep inside your board, when your board is produced; this allows surfers to register their new boards on the SBT online system. At the same time the SBT connects the surfer to their board and the surfer to the shaper. For example if you have just bought a Al Merrick with SBT you will receive a direct link into the Channel lsland on the West Coast, receiving the very latest updates, news and competitions at the same time, automatically insuring your board from theft, covering your board wherever you may travel at home or overseas for a whole 12 months, and it's renewable.

For the first time ever, Surfers can protect themselves from theft anywhere in the world. A Truly a good strategy is to get "covered up" with SBT. SBT is truly global resource and is only conducive to the SBT system being present in your board. Without it you wont get access to the SBT system. Customers really enjoy the satisfaction of knowing that the board they own is 100% insured from theft. SBT is not just about surfers and board ownership. Distributors and retailers who demand to have SBT in the boards they order can be absolutely sure that what they are buying is a good 100% quality product. Retailers and Distributors are free to make board checks, stock checks, etc. SBT also gives independent and national retailers the opportunity to advertise their business on the SBT system if they wish.

Boards stolen from warehouses, shops, or in transit can be highlighted on the system and can be listed. Any board with SBT is absolutely genuine. The all-new 2009 SBT system has no need for scanners, except at the factories. Finally, shapers working with Surfboard Tracker receive the advantage of a professional, easily recognizeable online security track and trace web-system. SBT provides shapers and their retrospective board factories with things like, inventory and license control, traceability, authentication and direct market links to customers.

Some examples of companies already using the SBT system are factories in Brazil, Local Motion Surfboards, Phipps Surfboards, Beachbeat (Laminations), Utopiasurf France, Bufo (Hydroflex), Ocean Magic Surfboard Factory in the UK and Skindog Surfboards. The UK and Portugal has over 40 shapers using the system. SBT is a full-on 21st century anti-theft and insurance system that takes board ownership onto another planet. Ever feel like you may be missing out on something? If you would like more details on the next best thing please get in touch.
