New to sups, but loving it. Problem is, with daylight getting less as winter approaches, I find I haven't got time to get a sup in before or after work due to the lack of light. I can fit a sup in if I take my sup to work and leave it on my roof racks all day - but everything I read says this will damage the board. I have a new Naish Glide and a board bag. I can park in some partial shade, but the board in its bag will still be exposed to the sun for a fair part of the day. Do I leave the board at home and not get a sup in, or do I take the chance and leave it on the roof racks all day?

I wouldn't. If it's brand new, and it delams in the heat, I'd hate to be trying to claim warranty on it.

Betcha they'd get excited at the shop if it shat, and you took it back and told 'em you leave it on your roof in the sun every day. Real excited.

Yeah I have a friend who does that to his mana too ..but with no cover ..its faded big time now....but if you have a white or silver reflecting boardcover it shouldn't get too hot ..but un zip it as it might act as a oven bag .I think it's more the direct sunlight that will age it .i guess with a new board your are always a bit worried ..after a year ..you get a little more relaxed .which size glide did you get ? I have the 11' glide Great flat water board also smashes through waves ,without hardly budging .
i guess the winter sun isn't as hot .unless your right up north .maybe get a reflection sheet to put over it too.
if it means getting a sup in the avo ..I would take it ..just check it through the day ,make sure it doesn't get to hot .
if its cooking leave it at home ,if its just warm ,should be ok .
if its over 30 c I wouldn't be leaving any sup on the roof for more than 1-2 hours .if I can help it .




i don't think the GS models, like the Glide .have the final lamination coat like the GT .( Matt finish) .so maybe they will handle more heat .

If it were me, I would rig something up to keep it a little cooler - I can't sup enough ;)

I don't have a glide, but my Naish bag is very loose, so maybe you could rig something to create a space between the board and the top of the cover, and then use a solar powered fan to suck the air out. A bit elaborate I know, but if there is enough sun to power the fan then there is enough to cook your board. Just a thought.
