I have been using it for some of the training classes and this is what i think.

It seems to push nice at the nose but feels like its dragging it arse, speed wise its faster than the Naish glide 14 but slower than the Javelin in flat water. It has a bit of tippyness when standing foward but when you get on the tail its nice and stable. As far as 12'6 boards go it would be up there with the quickest it might be hard work in a rough ocean but i have not tested it there yet so bit of a guess!!

This board to me would suit battle of the paddle style races as it is fairly quick ,stable for when you go around the bouys and should surf the little waves in not to bad.

how does it compare to the Lahui kai for stability? of the 12.6 boards you have ridden, what performs the best in the ocean?

Don't really see the point comparing it to boards 2ft longer, how does it compare to the Naish Glide 12'0 and DC12'6?

Thanks Jon West,
For saying exactly what I was thinking. There is a massive difference between a 12'6" board and a 14', that's a whole lot of waterline length. The idea with the Storm Series was to create a new and very versatile version of the original Penetrator, one that would not only be fast in the flats but also very capable in all sorts of conditions and be simpler to construct enabling it to be available at a lower price. So far the results have been very positive, a small ammount of tweeking will take place and I'm sure the design will achieve everything it was aimed at.

It's what I had aT the time to compare. There are a lot of people who have naish 14ft boards or have paddled them aleast so this gives them something to go off. Some one else might compare the dc to it but I don't have one. The pen has more water line than the 14 ft naish glide by the way

I know you are not having a go scotty, but there are a few who think i might be a bit one sided so this is my take on it all and sorry its a bit of topic.

Yes you are right i do ride for Naish but i will always tell it how i see it if Naish do a **** board i'm not going to say its good and if someone else has a really good board then i'm more than happy to let them know and anyone else who asks. Just because you ride for a company does not mean you become a puppet for them, i give a lot of feed back to a lot of guys not just Naish. But then if you give me a board to ride and its **** i'll tell you if you ask as well but i will also say why!!!

To me the more people making good boards the better as it keeps pushing everyone else to improve, but feed back from riders is a big part of the companys improving.

Serg i have riddin all those boards but not back to back so for me to do a comparasion test would be unfair what i can say is Stuey has a good board and yes it might need a coulpe of small things changed but even as it stand now it's a good board and would be right up there in it's class.

Jon west the pen 12'6 would leave the Naish 12ft glide for dead in a race no questions asked but then the naish 12ft glide is not really a race board for competive racing.
