I've owned all these boards. I'm a bit heavier than you (100) but my pick would be the 9'2" JP. IMO for a stepping stone, it is the logical choice. Its stable, paddles like a longer board so gets you in nice and early, and it rips as hard as you can push it. The 9'0" Hokua is a very tippy board. Great to surf, but is a constant battle in the lineup. The 9'5" is great again, stable but a bit heavy if you're trying to transition to true short board style SUP. Go the 9'2"... In a few months at your weight you could be looking at the 8'6" or even 8'2" JP.
Cheers Zeusman - I think you're bang on the money. As per my previous comment, I demo'd the JP 9'2 yesterday & I think it offers me plenty board to grow into. Getting in early is important so I'm glad you mentioned that. I would consider the shorter JP boards but I'm getting a sweet deal on last years model & they only have a 9'2 in stock which kind of makes the decision for me.
