Yesterday was about as hard as SUP can get. With chop equalling the size of the average wave, there was real skill in wave selection that made the difference. But everyone put on an amazing display.
And in a super tight final with close scores and lots of waves ridden by each competitor, the goat man pulls out the move of the event. He was paddling out as the wave peaked up, it had basically broken in front of him when when smacks the lips with a huge reo right in the pocket and rides away like he had been on the wave the whole time. Not only was it an epic take off, but it would have been the highest scoring single move in the event as a standard reo.
All up a really great event with the conditions, I know we say this every event, but the level of riding was amazing, there was no easy heats, and wave counts were all very high.
Our race circuit again pushed our competitors, especially after battling trying conditions in the waves. Steve and the Andy's set an amazing pace, but it was Steve who proved to be un-catchable (seriously the guy never stops paddling). Well done all

A very big welcome to all the new comers too, great to see the stoke of the event spreading.
A huge thanks to all competitors for your efforts with judging, massive props to Dan and Simon head judges, Scotty on the awesome BBQ and Hot Dogs with refreshments plus, Casso for his usual awesome efforts (such as the new SPSC tent and Banner) and everyone who attended, the energy was great, and it was a fantastic day.
Hope to see you all and more at the next event on December 12th at Long reef, I've just sent off the order for the conditions to huey, and hopefully it doesn't get lost in the mail this time.
Regards,
JB
