I only posted a couple of days ago how dangerous TOS (the other side) on south straddie is saying how sucky and shallow it is.

A very good mate of mine Brad was surfing there yesterday, he took off on a wave and never came up ,he had hit the bottom head first , it was only 3 to 4 foot and owes his life to 2 young guys who paddled over to him in the impact zone and pulled him up by his leg rope unconscious and dragged him to shore where he came too.

Brad was flown out by helicopter and is O.K with only one crushed disc in his back which will heal fine his is walking and back home with his family today.

The ferry operator said he took back a dozen snapped boards yesterday.

Like I said before this is a no go zone for Sups.

Hey Piros,I wish Brad all the best,3 to 4 foot doesn't sound that big in the scheme of things but if anyone knows TOS,it is one heavy sucker. You could add another three foot power wise, this break packs a PUNCH
I would never surf that break on my Longboard or sup,its really a shortboard or dare I say a must for foamies!

Yeah I have heard its sucky and heavy, a bit like Boodjidup at Margarets, although I have had locals from TOS say Boodji is heavier Would be a mission to sup Boodji The place I was at the other day is very similar.

I surfed TOS about 11 years ago on a work bonding thing and all I remember was it was a real eye opener and Luke Egan got more barrels than the rest of us put together. I had a bad day cos the take off was gnarly and on my backhand. Out of my league at the time. Luke almost trashed his ski as well. That wave is so different to most waves in Vicco.

Powlett river in Vic is very similar but different. Heavy, sucky but not usually super shallow.

Glad to hear your mate is OK Piros!
