Hi. Am only new to the forum.
I have ridden horses and motorcycles for most of my life, and have only recently discovered the sport of Stand Up Paddleboarding.
I am comfortable on horses and motorcycles but freaked out by the water. Even though I have raced in the 6 man Outrigger canoes I am always nervous in big surf and very choppy conditions.
Any surf bigger than my waist and I dont want to go near it. But I really wanted to conquer my fears.
So I hired Peter Dorries as my coach. I have only had a few lessons so far, but my technique has improved incredibly and I am paddling much faster and stronger. Both on my SUP (fanatic fly 12'6) and my Outrigger OC1.
He has given me a huge boost of confidance, and I even made it out the back of Currumbin the other day. With Peter on his board right beside me and encouraging me.
You cannot put a price on the feeling that you get when you are finally starting to do things that scare you, and come through it and actually start to have fun.
I cannot thank Peter Dorries enough for his expert advice, and calm disposition. His water skills are second to none, and his coaching is amazing.
I hope to meet some of you SUP paddlers on the water sometime. Happy Paddling
