This morning I had a 1 on 1 technique session with one of Australia's best paddle coaches (and paddlers)

In almost 2 hours Peter Dorries had videod my paddle technique, reviewed it together, broken down what I was doing wrong bio mechanically and showed me drills to practice to be able to correct my technique.

I'd paddle on video, watch it, do drills and then some more paddling while being corrected on the way. Then Video again.

The difference in one session and what you can learn when explained simply is amazing. It's gonna take a heap of homework to get it all nailed but I know I'll be a far better paddler long term.

I've tried learning by watching videos, reading theory etc. If you want to get this nailed and paddle as well as you can. Give Peter a call. He actually posts on this site username petedorries or PM me and I can give you his details.

Hey CMC, what's the rough price? I know I need help. The more info you get the better, especially if it's specifically tailored to you.

Had quite a few PM's on this. Honestly, do it. 1 on 1 is unreal.

I know he just got back from clinics in North QLD. I'm not sure about Sydney, maybe round up some crew and let him know.

Went back to do some homework this morning and would you believe I even remembered the cues, drills and feelings to keep practicing what he taught me.

Feels like I am doing 1/4 the work and travelling twice as fast. So this is why the guys winning races always look like they have just taken a Sunday stroll.......

Hi. Am only new to the forum.
I have ridden horses and motorcycles for most of my life, and have only recently discovered the sport of Stand Up Paddleboarding.
I am comfortable on horses and motorcycles but freaked out by the water. Even though I have raced in the 6 man Outrigger canoes I am always nervous in big surf and very choppy conditions.
Any surf bigger than my waist and I dont want to go near it. But I really wanted to conquer my fears.
So I hired Peter Dorries as my coach. I have only had a few lessons so far, but my technique has improved incredibly and I am paddling much faster and stronger. Both on my SUP (fanatic fly 12'6) and my Outrigger OC1.
He has given me a huge boost of confidance, and I even made it out the back of Currumbin the other day. With Peter on his board right beside me and encouraging me.
You cannot put a price on the feeling that you get when you are finally starting to do things that scare you, and come through it and actually start to have fun.
I cannot thank Peter Dorries enough for his expert advice, and calm disposition. His water skills are second to none, and his coaching is amazing.
I hope to meet some of you SUP paddlers on the water sometime. Happy Paddling
