Gday DJ,
Thats funny mate. One of my mates got arrested for pinching a coppers hat once and he was later told that it was an offence to even put one one ya head???whats with that??
I once found an orangy red thing floating in the water at Crescent Head point and realised on closer inspection that it was a frankfert skin,eeeeewwwwww.It hit me minutes later the trip this skin had been on,someone eat it,next day it made it into the bowl, then the treatment plant, then freedom out to sea.It has made me think twice about picking up floating rubbish in the ocean, but I still do it anyway, just not the orangy red things lol,

My sister-in-law bought me some neoprene paddling gloves years ago (in my short-board days). I thought they were a bit "gay" & never wore them, until one day when something prompted me to dig them out of the wardrobe & take them out at Back Beach, Geraldton. Lot of weed around, & some weird-shaped piece floated past me. I scooped it up & it was a cute little octopus. As I'm admiring it in the palm of my hand, its tentacles changed colour to BLUE RINGS!!! Adios rapido cute little octopus. What made me put those gloves on that day.................................(I dunno why, but eerie Twlight Zone theme keeps coming into my head)??!!!
True story.

That's police hat is a pretty cool find.

I found twoNautilus about a year ago one week after another. Apparently they turn up in the bay every seven or so years but I've never seen them there before.

Found a $5 buck note the other day in the water at St Kilda!
It paid for a coffee afterwards!

That's funny... I've found money floating in the water around St Kilda four times now.. and every time it's a five buck note..

If I keep this up I'll be rich..

I've also seen some of these very odd jelly fish around St Kilda..

I was out kiteboarding and found a pressure pack air horn they use to start yacht races. I rode around tooting it a bit then went to the beach and gave it to a kid. Hopefully he used it to drive his Mum mad.

Found one of these once, and wore it for the session:

Also a stack of tennis and soccer balls which are always great to throw at your mates while they are sailing about.

That exact same thing happened to me at back beach, walking along with the missus, I saw a very small and sand covered occy that looked to be well dead, I thought I would give it a wash off and show the kids when I got home, as I cleaned it up all the blue rings appeared although it was still lifeless. Bare hands! just imagine how that could have turned out

I know blue bottles and the normal stingers around our coast cant sting the palm of your hand or the soles of your feet for some reason.(Lots of experience fishing).
"If you have to try this remember they will sting the webbing between your fingers and toes".
I have a sneaking suspicion the same is true for blue rings ,box jellys and Irakangis as well.
Might be an experiment for mythbusters or someone with a few bourbons under the belt to have a crack at in between sets.

Good plan. Remember the blue ring octopus doesn't kill you as such. It totally paralyses you so you can't breathe or have a heart beat. All you need is full CPR for 8-12 hours and you'll be fine.

There is a story, which I think is not an urban myth, of a woman being stung and she could hear people talking about giving up on the CPR because they thought she was dead.

I've also have heard of that to happen.

I believe they secret a syliva textured poison which has the said paralising effect once in the blood stream. Not the nicest way to go.

you dont feel the effect of stingers/blue bottles on your palms or soles of your feet cause the skin is tougher/thicker and resists the tiny balbs penertrating the skin

while the rest of your bodies skin is thinner and more sensitive and the balbs can penetrate the skin thus you feel the sting

dont think that i would risk trying to test it out on a box jelly fish and blue ring occy

Wasn't floating in the water...more like wedged in the rock wall...at Pt Cartwright. Found yesterday. I know the owner who did this about 2 weeks ago when his leg rope snapped.

Harold Holts remains, the $10 million stolen during the great bookie robbery?

The suspense is too much.

DavidJohn, It is obvious: first the donuts, then the cop hat... A police boat sank!
