Being on a SUP you can see what is underneath you, especially with polaroids. A little while ago was paddling across Byron near Clarkes and picking up some small waves. Had two bronzies two metres directly under me- the dozens of surfers body boarders and swimmers were oblivious. At Wategos in same week saw three small sharks in one day-also saw some mack tuna chase and eat garfish and a hundred deep school of juvenile eagle rays- which was cool. Funny thing is I had surfed in the same spots hundreds of times for many years on a short board and longboard and never saw a shark or much else apart from dolphins and turtles.

Yeah agreed-I was out on a Northern Beaches beach (Sydney) watching schools of garfish zipping about underneath me-about 10m out from where the pack of surfers were sitting-next thing about a 20kg odd kingfish comes up underneath my board and just sits off the front of the board for about 50m cruising and then as we came to a large school of the garfish he just took off to one side and just hammered them-all teh while the surfers were oblivious.

always see lots of stingrays, occasional seals, fish galore, dolphins and longboarders

u see so much more when your supping, its half the joy, especially on rare glass days... fantastic.

I hardly see anything when i'm windsurf, maybe ocasional dolphin or seal .

best things i have seen are flying fish and a white pointer.
