At the moment it looks like Clive Palmer will be the member of parliament for the electorate of Fairfax, where I live. WTF!!!!!!!!!
For years we have had an LNP government that did nothing, that was good in some ways. Now we have a maniac.
I think I will pack up and move.
Trouble is where do you go?
Not happy.

I know absolutely nothing about politics or Clive Palmer, and I didn't even vote, but to me Australia is a business, Clive knows how to make money as he is a successful business man, whats bad about him?

note: I don't really follow anything in the media

RJK I believe you are studying to be an EngineerI. I am a civil engineer and know that we need development and business to sustain our lifestyles and our jobs and also to create jobs for our families.
My issue is that I believe in sustainability not open slaver. Unfortunately for my area Clive Palmer is the sort of bloke who doesn't give a toss about the environment and issues associated with it. He is mostly interested in his own pocket.
His proposals for the area are nothing but monstrous.
Anyway we will have to wait and see what happens. After all he is only one voice in the parliament and doesn't have compatriots to back him.
Just having a bit of a whinge today as Oakland up with pneumonia.
It stinks.
Enjoy the great day.

Tony is going to stop the boats, so Currumbin Alley might have less traffic for SUP'ing.

Like Teatrea said come down here, DW with DJ (It's like the title of a TV show!!). I'll hire you to tutor my son who's doing Civi Engineering (just!!). Personally I'm going to a more nice, environmentally conscious, forward thinking, and tolerant culture like Afghanistan, Pakistan or Cananyoneunerstan!!
It's good to know that we live in a country where the two legged sheep still out number the humans!! Go to Youtube and type in 'Tony Abbot the pause'.WE now have our very own gdubya Bush. Hopefully the puppet masters are little less easy to predict. Hopefully the Liberals really aren't all that different to Labor. Lets face it Malcolm Turnbull fits neatly into the Left Wing of the Labour Party. I betcha we do hear core promises and non core promises again though. Time will show if we made the wrong decision such as, if Australians become the evil guys in Hollywood movies ie. Lethal Weapon 76.

Well i voted for the Greenies , not because i agree with some of their extreme ideas. But you need them to have a voice to try keep the other parties honest. If we didnt have them , wouldnt be a fish in the Sea or an old growth forest left standing. It is going to be interesting though watching Tony turn back the boatsMaybe he will just send them down to Gina , to work for $10 bucks an hourHey ET move to Buthan , they measure their GDP in gross domestic happiness , sounds better than Australias , Gross , depicable , pigs

weiry im' getting red thumbed by testy labour people.when the gfc hit it hit hard. private sector building pretty much ground to a halt. personally i would be lucky to work 8 months or so in the year atm. had to sell my property and thought , well have to sit out for 18 months, been through the boom/bust cycle plenty of times- 6 years later!!!!. thousands and thousands of trademans and contractors are in the same boat, particularly se qld/gold coast. but be cause we aren't on a payroll as such we are the forgotten. guys doing all sorts of stuff for a lot less then they are entitled too- where are the labour values in that!!!. hundred of contractors getting screwed to give ridiculous prices and going broke. i even know of a korean tiling outfit with cheap imported labour going bust.

the stimulus package didn't include the private sector very much. nothing has been said much about the building game and as far as i'm concerned labour have done jack about it in 6 years. not even sure they know - no hardcore statistics maybe .

great numbers of tradies doing tough of a long time

if anyone thinks i was voting for another three years of that you have rocks in your head- red thumbs and all.

at the end of the day we just want to work

cheers

Sorry Lacey didn't want to create issues but have concerns for my area.
The way I see it is that the pollies need to stop bickering with each other and do something for the communities that they represent.
I am very aware of the tragic circumstances faced by lots of tradespeople. As an example I work for a firm of consulting engineers, 10 years ago we had 45 staff and more work than we could cope with. Now we have 15 staff and struggle from week to week. We have all taken a 20% paycut to keep the place going.
I believe that we need development, it provides jobs, produces income for a wide variety of people and has lots of off shoots to the community.
The point I wanted to make was that the people in power need to listen to the people that they represent. If the construction industry is in a downturn then instigate policies or practices to improve things. This can be done with consultation so that the parts of they community that have concerns have them addressed. The work goes ahead, you and iWork, and areas that need protection get protected.
I just believe that open slaver is not the way. So if we have good policies that allow industry and development and we have consultation with local residents and concerned citizens it could-be a win win.
Any way my thoughts only. I still hope that old Clive doesn't cause too many problems for us.
Cheers

I'm with you Lacey, I work in business banking (& have do so my entire working life) dealing with SMEs with turnover from $1m to $50m+ and not one of them has said "gee the ALP has been doing a good job".

Business confidence is at an all time low - hoping that it turns around.

E T it doesn't matter who's running this Country anymore Australia is loosing it heritage e.g. identity extremely fast along with it's working class lifestyle ( Like Jimmy Barns sings I'm a working class man WTF ). Like America is an English speaking country but every where you go the only language you here is Spanish WTF. I believe in 50 years no-one will speak any English in America. It will soon be the same in Australia as well.
I don't care anymore because I just won the Lottery.

Well as they said in the vid " It happens". Lets all hope that some of these guys and gals start to listen to the people who put them there.
On a much smaller scale I guess this is why there has been so much protest and disruption in the Arab world of late.
People have got sick of being pushed around and not listened to.
Good vid DW. Couldn't stop laughing. Especially when the black dude came in.
