Yeah Vego Power Boj . A tin of lentils the night before keeps everything at a distance.
Just glad I read the article after I went for a surf there on Monday .... otherwise I might have missed out on some good waves.
I love how the expert in the article states that it "may be a Great White" hmmm ....

They found him......
A MONSTER tiger shark that has been spooking surfers on the Sunshine Coast has been caught a few hundred metres from shore.

The 4.72m giant was reeled in from a drumline off Yaroomba near Coolum Beach.

Shark catcher Paddy Dimond, doing his rounds yesterday morning as part of the State Government's Shark Control Program, said it was the largest shark he had caught in the region in his five years in the job.

ON PATROL WITH QUEENSLAND'S SHARK HUNTERS: Don't miss this weekend's Sunday Mail print edition

Mr Dimond and deckhand Lachlan Tuckwell could not drag the 500kg-plus creature aboard.

He said the pregnant female was believed to be the same shark that had sent boardriders racing to shore after recent sightings. "This is the biggest shark I've seen up here. It is probably the one local surfers have been talking about."

The article then went on to say that they found several babies inside of her, that's a bit sad to kill a pregnant shark, they need to do what they do with crocs relocate them, I'm sure underwater world on sunny coast would find a tank big enough for a 5m monster

Underwater World isnt big enough to hold them, additionally they cannot survive the temperatures in their tank. Tigers migrate long distances so relocation wouldnt work. I do think its ridiculous though to kill such a shark. With all the local sightings dont you think it would have attacked someone already if it was going to? Not much you can do though, without guidelines like this (to kill all over 3m) and sharks nets (useless) with media hype, tourists wouldnt swim and our local economy would more than likely crash.
