DW music vid #8.

Today Jonathan and I did a down-winder in stormy conditions and we had lighting and thunder all around us during our 2hr run with some wind gusts in the 30-40 knot range.. Towards the end we slowed during a lull in the wind and waves Jonathan says that the hairs on his arms are all standing on end and when he swung his paddle across to the other side it made a loud clicking/buzzing sound.. I checked mine.. Looking at the hairs on the back of my fingers standing straight up like I've never seen before.. and my paddle also made a very loud buzzing noise that sounded just like the geiger-counter meters that they use to detect radio active material in the movies... Weird stuff.. We didn't get zapped.. At the end of my vid you can see Jonathan amused by the buzzing sound and also the hairs on his arms.. More music from the new TRON movie.

Jonathan was on his 14' SurfRace and I was on my 14' Glide.

One of the freakiest experiences I've ever had, started off feeling like I'd banged my funny bone - both sides, this strange nervy feeling in my hands, hairs on my arms standing straight up.

But the noise, cross between a geiger counter and a light sabre, and loud enough that I could clearly hear DJ's paddle from a few metres away. DJ kindly said that he thought he'd heard that you felt that electric energy just before you got struck by lightning, we decided there were worse ways to go.

Didn't feel that relaxed standing on a carbon board with a carbon paddle in my hands....

DJ & JC (is this like Batman & Robin)

That's awsome. It seemed really effortless, gliding on a runner more oftern than paddling.

Driving to work yesterday I heard about the golfer that died from being hit by lightning and wondered if they have carbon shafts?

News today.. www.heraldsun.com.au/nocookies?a=A.flavipes

I was told that lightning can strike the water 8 klms away and still get you if you're holding a carbon shaft and it's happened before to OC paddlers.

I've been told to throw my paddle if you see a strike nearby.. and it's a good thing to wear Croc's... Just passing the info on..

Shouldn't that be AC and DC?
