I really don't like the litre guage as the shape of the board and thickness in the tail and nose has much more to do with stability.
Eg: Regardless of the volume the fuller the nose and tail it will be more stable , so the more it looks like a short board (pulled in nose and tail) the harder it will be to stand on. So a 130l board with a fat nose and tail will be easier to stand on but surf like sh!t , use that 130l on a custom shaped board with a pulled in nose and tail it will surf heaps better but be harder to stand on.
The trick is to find a board that will float your Kg's and chuck buckets but still be to stand on it in all conditions.

The starboard whooper is a floating footpath but not that great in the waves , however it is a good board for the larger units wanting to venture into the surf for the first time.The Naish Mana range is a better mix of both and there are plenty of other boards like this. Just demo as many as you can before you buy.
