The second half of this vid is a good example of what doesn't get me stoked.

Nothin' quite like going for a peaceful surf and enjoying a few waves with ya mates. Sharin' the stoke and all.

Well if wants to pick fights he needs to lift his fighting game .One day he'll pick the wrong bloke and will be sucking food through a straw for a couple of months until his jaw heals.

so from what I see surfer drops in on booger booger has a word out on water so surfer follows him in and picks a fight. Just wish the booger could of got a few better shots in. Good surfer or not from what I can see he looks like a real dick.
Nice waves but

All well and good till one of them throws a punch that connects with the side of the head and kills the other, or one wrestles the other to the ground and someone ends up with a broken neck. Yeah it all seems ok until one bloke is permanently injured and the other is in prison. All over a bloody wave.

Ha ha

Done heaps of this in the ring, on the door, rugby and at the pub. Very little at the beach, got punched out as a grom at Trigg Pt though.

Not a good look but props to them both they followed through, a lot of talk these days and very little action unless backed up with 15 mates or knives.

Takes me back to the good old days

yeah the booger was getting on top and some of those swings had some power behind them. that guy was lucky they didn't connect. he knew it and was back peddling, but he didn't run off. i suppose he would have felt like a real dill if he did.

it can get heated a places like d bar and the blood boils. one off drop ins aren't the problem, its the repeat offender who targets some bloke that can kick these thing off

ugly scene and it all could go horribly wrong

Mmmm interesting looks like standup dick was starting to get the snot punched out of him till 4 other blokes showed up. If it gets that heated in the lineup then it's not worth paddling out. I agree that neither can fight.

bloody pathetic and is a total affront to the true spirit of surfing.

Having been on short boards for 30 plus years, ive copped my fair share of tribalism and aggro in some of perths more crowded line ups. Since ive been on a sup ive felt nothing but cameraderie and good will from fellow suppers in the water. Another reason why im absolutely stoked i discovered sup. the true spirit of surfing.

It is a completely different vibe in SUP to surfing. Maybe some of that is to do with the fact that we don't need perfect surf to get a buzz happening. I haven't ridden prone in over 12 months since my last trip to Hawaii.

Looks to me like surfer thinks he owns the line up and picked on the wrong Booger on this particular day(ie someone willing to fight back). Wished Surfer had gotten bigger hiding though!

The only thing fights are good for is that it takes the focus out of a crowded lineup. While everybody is busy rubber-necking, you can score plenty of waves to yourself.

As to the action on the sand, my vote goes to the boogie boarder. Seemed like he was the underdog and got a few good licks in at the end.

True facts why and how the fight started.

The surfer dropped in on the boogie guy, paddled back out and was greeted with 10 of his mates mouthing off at him and one boogie ( the guy in the fight ) punches him in the line up,the surfer calls this guy to the beach and you know the rest.

Note-boogie guy in the fight was not the guy who got dropped in on.

I'm sure Lacey has seen this in the 80's as this was a fav' wave back in our sb day's.
I've seen a big nugget guy with a famous movie star name get smashed on the beach by some little Jap with fighting skill back mid 80',no one took off everyone just watched.

Agro d-bah a well known hot spot.

Oh wow bra this like totally p-dizzles my aloha bra.

No shakas bra, nah bra.

Hammo is a good bloke, if he fought the guy there was a good reason. Sure he didn't win clearly but as hilly said there was no dirty action, no 2 on 1 and while this stuff doesn't need to happen sometimes it does. At least it was clean. I hear they were both good enough to shake hands and forget about it afterwards.

If you dont carry on like a twat in the surf you have nothing to worry about. If you do eventually youll come across someone who'll give you a little slap. Goldie is the most populated surf spot in Australia. I'm suprised it doesnt happen more often.

Lacey,I think you know the guy I am referring too, this guy would spear his board at you for dropping in,the line up just stopped surfing and we all had ringside seats.

back in the old days we were very adept at dodging large stones thrown at us by locals as we entered and left the break. We learnt that sometimes you may have, as a grom, got a slapping from time to time, but it was never more than a clip across the back of the ear. The thing I thought was a bit on the weak side was the 5 if I counted of the surfers correctly monitoring the guy off him in a less than gentle manner. That in my day would have been considered not appropriate. I surfed the Goldy for many years (20 at a rough guess) and never got into a fight in the break. I think nowadays that overall people are way more stressed and therefore more likely to explode in this sort of situation.
