Alright folks - I'm 6'5" and 120kg. Pretty strong upper body which makes me top heavy. Any recommendations for boards? I'm on a 12' now, but it's hell in choppy water.

Mogno, I'm 6'5" and 95. I have a 12' by 32" *board which has been a good learner (nice light board). Nevertheless, I still find it a handful in chop.

I demo'd a 9'5" Naish Mana today. I think it is easier to balance in chop than the bigger board. Not sure why - but it seemed to be easier to respond to the front to rear pitching than the longer board. And has a good width (31") which remains important for balance.

So I'm looking to keep the width greater than 30" and go shorter. Looking to demo the 10'5" and 9'8"*boards next, to see how I go with a shorter board and slightly less width again.

I'm 6'4" but only 90kg and I have the 10' Mana and 12' Glide and the 14' Glide.

All great boards for bigger guys but it depends on what you want the board for as to which one's best for you.

I think it will depend on what you want to do with the board. I think a great allrounder worth trying would be a 10.5 Starboard or the Starboard whopper for maximum stability - I think you will find the 10.5 a nicer paddler though. If you are looking to get into the surf then I would recommend a board I tried today - a new C4 9'3 Sub Vector - yes I saw what you weigh !! The C4 will suprise you, it really will. Good luck with it - try as many as you can before you buy anything.

Is anyone retailing C4's in Australia? Or is it a fly to Hawaii job?

All depends what you want to do, for waves demo the 10 6 WAA from PSH or the Gun.

Greenroom has a good suggestion, but what I gather from most is that 32" is the way to go and depending on wave type anywhere from 10-14'. The waves in Hong Kong may take more speed, so maybe 12'+.

Who makes a 12'+ X 32"?

The new Coreban cruisers don't look too bad and are built for big guys.

http://www.coreban.com/cruiser.html

Dale Chapman on the Gold Coast could easily build you a extra width & thick custom , he has heaps of experience in big boards through his 12-6 , 14 & 18 foot racing Sups.

Hey Mogno, depends on what you mainly do with it?

The PSH 10'6WAA rips in the surf for the big boys and is super stable.

The Naish 10'MANA is also a board getting solid reviews.

If you are looking for an all-rounder the 11'4 Naish or the 12' Gun from PSH or the are two definitely worth looking at.

The 10'5 MANA may also be a board in that could fit the bill, but we are yet to try it.

Try as many as you can!

At 6ft2' and 125kg I bought the 11-6 Naish It floats me big time But I found it wobbly in chop.
But I will stick with it as it will make me a better paddler/balancer(does that make sense?)
I would like to go to a 10.5 x 34inch wide next.
Might build my own this time .
My nerve problem radiating from my back has affected me in my regular surfing,
looks like SUP will be my domain now

I'm 105 kegs and am riding the 9'6 WAA PSH....I would be looking at the 10'6 PSH if I was you...nice pullled in tail and a great board to ride...if you planning on going anything over head be careful of th boards with real wide tails as you will probably loose a bit of performance in anything other than mush IMO

Have been hearing that some decent numbers of the new corebans are going to arrive in the very near future so I would suggest you have a good look at these boards before you go crazy and spend your big bucks on some other "premium brands" because as far as production boards go the corebans look the part and paddle really nice and seem to be aimed at the larger surfer/paddler and they are very well priced. Their construction appears to be on par with other big names and I believe they will have quite an impact when they hit here in numbers. Even though I am a relative light to middle weight I reckon the two boards I have ridden of late that feel like they would suit a bigger surfer would be the 9'6 coreban and the 9.3 C4 Sub Vector.
