Hi this is for all to answer. What is the best SUP you have ridden in small waves 1meter or less?.
Is it easy to catch a wave with?
How does it go on windy days?
Does it turn easy if you ride it properly?
Do you own this type of board?
Theres a few questions but I know people who like me would like to know genuine experiences & opinions.
Cheers for anyones input thanks.

For a first go it would be my mate Dan's 8'8" custom. A little under bouyant for me, but after coming off a popout it was a revelation. Hard to catch waves on, difficult in wind, but rode the 3 foot surf I tried it in like a shortboard with a turbo charger.

Do I own this type of board? Yes; I since bought a Laguna custom 8' 9" that goes like the clappers in small waves but is easier to paddle (for my weight) and handles big stuff as well. IMO if you are into shortboard type surfing, a custom like this is the way to go unless you can get one of the lighter productions boards made for this type of surfing. More rocker, rolled deck, less volume in the rails and concaves equals good performance!

Cheers

I'm with Goatman on this my 8-11 & 8-8 are both really good in small waves it much easier to get that pump and drive on small boards , than on the big fellas.

The 8-11 I would take out in anything but the 8-8 has it's limits in wind but it's amazing how much speed you can get on it in small waves which makes it really easy to throw around , it is harder to catch waves but I still don't miss any , just need that extra stroke.

Jl Mano series light with heaps of rocker fantastic in small waves.
PSH new range coming out in March looks good.
Starboard range is good in small waves try the narrower versions 28/29 inch wide.

personal fav at 105kg 9 9 Mano.

My new custom. 8'7".

It's easy to catch waves, goes fast and turns mental. I've only ridden it twice in small waves (shoulder to head high) and I love it.
Turns a lot better than my old 8'3" and draws better lines. Not sure if it will be my Maldives board yet but I will get to test it in
some more punchy bigger waves soon I hope.

It's a hard question to answer though. I rekon the 8'10" Naish goes good and I'm guessing the SB Pocket Rocket would be super fun.

Hilly after the Christmas cheer I have slide to the wrong side of 90 kegs but the 8-8 still goes O.K with the ankles in the water.
