Hey guy's just to clarify the use of the word Aloha:
Aloha in the Hawaiian language means affection, love, peace, compassion and mercy. (Wikipedia 2011)
The reason for its use in this topic was to pay respect to the people that had such a significant part in surfing history and why they surfed.
Surfing/SUP has its roots in all cultures that have paddle a canoe/outrigger/reed boat in the ocean and caught waves back to the beach in a standing position. So the origin of surfing/SUP is still argued between historians today.
A little bit off track but I've used the word Aloha here not to ACT like a wanna be white Hawaiian but to explain a FEELING that people maybe able to relate to in some form.
Back to the topic, it's great to see the responses and how people percieve SUP in our communities. I like your answer ODSUP to the line up part of the questions. My shortboarder mates love it when i surf with them because they know i'm going to share the wave with them and set them up for the set that are coming through as well.
Wasn't calling you a wannabe white Hawaiian just that I feel dorky myself using their words etc. Every sport I do comes from Hawaii, I would love to spend a lot of time there.
