Doing a road trip from Victoria direct to Noosa, Picking up a new paddle stick, then spending the next two weeks driving back down the East Coast of Oz surfing and supping. Can any of you locals in Seabreeze land give me the lowdown of where to SUP through Queensland AND NSW without pissing the locals off ?

Cheers,

Leon.

Mate from the pictures posted here, you rip it up on a sup,you know your sh-t.
When on the GC, hit up sup heaven the Alley and the points south, sup the outside of Greenmount or creep into Rainbow but Snapper into LM is another thing. Some of the crew hate sup'ers out there, but as I started with you rip so make the first wave a good one and the others will be happy to watch, just show respect which I am sure you would anyway.
Enjoy the roadie, take the camera some we can all share the eastcoast.

Howdy Leon
Not from that neck of the woods as you know but do a semi annual up Yamba way around September, October. Wouldnt dream of taking the Stand Up out to Angas but there are plenty of back beaches and protected corners where you can find a wave without pissing too many people off. Same deal a bit further down the coast at Crescent, just avoid the main points and go searching. As 62mac said, your good enough to fit in anywhere and I know youre humble enough to fly under the radar. Have a good one you lucky bugger!
Cheers

mac, i reckon outside gm should be about it for sups.

a bit of courtesy and probably more grief then needed to go any further up

i've been annoyed myself then i've see sups up past greenie.
as a short boarder as well as sup per, i just don't think its on imo.
gm's perfect because it can be a hard wave to get on shorties

by the power invested to me by me,i hereby dismiss you as the gatekeeper

North side of Coffs, there are few little turn offs of only 1km or so, and you're at the beach. Sapphire, Moonee, Emerald Beach, Sandy Beach (ha!)... Also Woolgoolga, Mullaway, Arrawarra... Good camping and cabin action around that way too. Some roadworks at the moment. But a nice little stretch for a stop over.... You won't have any trouble here with a SUP midweek.

The other great stop is Treachery. Again, a bloke like you won't have any trouble midweek.
www.treacherycamp.com.au/

Trial Bay Gaol Camping Ground is worth a stop too. The Big4 Caravan Park nearby is good too.
http://www.trialbaygaol.com/camping.html
Heading south, follow the riverside roads to Hat Head, and Crescent. Again, you'll sneak under the radar at Crescent.

South again, Crowdy Head & Harrington area can be a worthwhile stop.
Back onto the Highway, and back out to Old Bar, or keep heading out to Forster Tuncurry, and you'll stumble across Boomerang and Bluey's Beach, and next stop is Seal Rocks and Treachery (mentioned above).

That's my surf highlights tour of the Mid North Coast.... And that's only about 1/5th of the NSW Coast..... And I even skipped Port & Coffs Southside....

SEEK AND YOU WILL FIND

But if you are seeking the land of the long right hand point break, greater Torquay Vic is good (IMO! - What did you say? You're goofy!?)

would definately recommend forster area, Forster main beach not that fantastic unless big east-south east swells. Tuncurry can be good with sucky peaky lefts and rights. head south and you'll come to Tiona worth a look but at this time of year will be very lonely. Next turn off to Elizabeth beach keep going around bend to Boomerang should get a nice lefty hear at north end. If big from south, head on down the road to seals (right hand point) Another spot that if working is Hawks nest (southeast corner need 4x4) or inside port stephens Yakaba Head (longest lefts in area) If you want a bit of company go in to Newcastle and try Nobby's reef (long left)
Water always seems a little warmer from Forster up
Have fun

Hi Leon

This is a copy of what I sent someone else:

In Winter we traditionally have off shore winds which can lead to great surf though often not as big as summer.

The coast is an easy place to get from one location to another. Noosa to Caloundra is only about 40minutes.

Noosa points are great especially SE winds are high.
Noosa River mouth is great when the points are not working and the rest of the coast is blown out.
Sunshine to Coolum is an exposed coast and often has larger waves then the rest of the coast. Great for beach breaks.
Mudjimba and Maroochydore are often a bit more mellow then Coolum but have a great wave. The river mouth is good for SUPs especially if the beach is blown out.
Alex has a good mellow beach break north of the SLSC and a good point south of the SLSC. Often crowds up though.
Mooloolaba is not what I would call a SUP wave unless the bombie is breaking when it probably becomes the best on the coast. This is rare for August. Normally a Summer thing.
Karties is great but has one take off spot and crowds up at 10 people. Traditional Short board spot but they do not mind respectful SUP riders.
Kawana stretch has great sup in winter much like Sunshine to Coolum.
Wurtulla is one of the best breaks on the coast with a very punchy wave.
Dicky beach has a great wave and is often a good choice when north kawana is blown out.
Moffatts is a classic wave with a variety of take off points. It is a larger area and can handle a larger crowd. Great when blowing SE.
Kings i would avoid but happy valley is great especially for the family or when blowing northerly.

Cheers

if you would like to call in to the central coast (between newcastle and sydney) we have the full gammet for you to check out, just let me know when you"ll be about i"ll have a day off and show you around, if it's firing there's a spare room for a couple of days if you like.

The input and offers from all you guys is fantastic, I am just amazed at the generosity and willingness to help in the seabreeze SUP community. Its all about the stoke, having fun and sharing a few waves no matter how good or bad you are, its my religion and it seems to be Australia wide. Awesome, thanks for sharing and will definitely catch you in the water.
