Hello,
Just starting to get into SUP(it helps me survive the windless winters). Ive been out a few times now on a cabrihina kindly supplied by Sunshine coast sailboards. Been out having a blast in the small waves etc. Been doing heaps of research on different sups so i can work out whats best for me, that being a cross over board one thats ok in flatwater and ok in small surf before i commit to buying one i really want some feedback and reviews etc

If you plan on doing 50/50 flat water and waves IMO you don't want to go under 10' in length or it will not be so fun on flat water due to reduced tracking and glide. To get a board that size to surf well it needs to have a narrow and thin tail. I did a fair bit of research recently to find a board like this for myself and ended up with a Starboard Drive 10'5". At 30" wide it works better as a flat water board than some other big surf SUPs with up to 4" extra width to push through the water. If you find a board with these attributes you can't go wrong.

Starboard Whopper mate. Give Mike (Stand up surf shop) a call on 0416187816 or (08) 9335 5636. He will give you the run down on the whopper and the Drive which squid lips recommended. Cheers
