The 2013 edition of the White Cloud Foundation's "Wivenhoe Dam to the Gateway Bridge" SUP Paddle starts this Friday.

Day 1: Friday 21 June: sees the crew (10 people) begin paddling at 6:30am from Wivenhoe Dam to Kholo Bridge which covers 43km with 20 sets of small rapids on the way just to spice things up.
Day 2: Saturday 22 June: begins at Colleges Crossing at 9am and covers 43km to Fig Tree Pocket boat ramp.
Day 3: Sunday 23 June: starts at Fig Tree Pocket boat ramp, goes through Brisbane city and covers 35km to the Gateway bridge where we will finish at Northshore Riverside Park: Macarthur Ave.

Day 2, 3 have been planned to get the most of the outgoing tide. Winds look to be favourable Westerlies which will give us some great downwind support.

In 2011, Qld was savaged by flooding and the after effects are still affecting our communities. The purpose of the paddle is to raise funds for the White Cloud Foundation which is a charity that was created in 2011 to break down the barriers to access treatment and support for people, families and carers living with depression. All funds raised will go into the funding of a "Theatrical Program" run by Arts Link Qld that will tour primary schools (30,000 students) throughout rural, regional and metro Qld to reduce the stigma associated with depression. The aim is to change the next generation's thinking about depression to become more open and accepting. Further info: www.whitecloudfoundation.org

A small group of motivated individuals have already raised $7000. Well done lads!!!

This is the 3rd year that we have paddled this event on SUPs, the one thing we have learnt is: Big fins don't like rocks. This makes for very entertaining stacks in the river on the first day.

If anyone is interested in joining us at any stage, you are more than welcome.
