For any one interested just thought I would remind you that the first state round will be held at Yallingup Sat the 25th and Sun the 26th of Feb. log onto the Surfing WA website for entry info and registration. I would put a link up but I don't know how. I'm not very bright but I can lift heavy things.

When joining surfing wa what box do we check, longboard, short board or body board?

What's the schedule for the event? Surfing both days? When is the BOP race saturday or Sunday?

Is it a confirmed BOP race or just a 'short' marathon? Website doesn't give much info... I'll be heading down for the weekend for a look, might enter the BOP race to keep the average race times low :)

Load up the esky Wez, The surfing format will be Sat heats, Sunday Final, The BOP race is not confirmed however they need to get a 4.8 km Race done and the BOP format would fit in or a short course depending on the conditions. Join up as a longboarder as we fit in with their comps.

Long Range forecast looking good for Yalls. I would suggest anyone competeing should take race and wave boards, no formal info regarding format has been released yet, so if the forecast goes to **** and there is no raceing or surfing we can just sit on the beach and get stuck into Wez's esky. Win Win.

We're was wez on Sunday hope he was not watching footy like Galvo did notice there were a few more beers there without those guys wez are you lost inaction good luck in state round guys

This is the first of three state rounds, the end result will crown the state champion and finalise team for the nationals. We are crashing at the caravan park (kids want to camp) The swell is looking good will be a fun weekend.

Given the sweel forecast lets hope they don't run the BOP/Short course race anywhere near Yalls, otherwise it will make for great spectating getting in and out of the shorey with a 3m swell.

Do we know when the other two events are? Surfing WA website says they are in Denmark and Mandurah but no dates.

I'm looking at coming down too for the weekend to support the crew and take some happy snaps, will bring plenty of beers. Hopefully staying at the caravan park if tent sites still available.

Sounds like the caravan park is the place to be. I booked in there a couple of weeks ago thinking that all the LB's might have taken all the spots but they didn't seemed fussed at all. Afterwards I thought all the LBs are probably from Cott and own their own holiday places down there and wouldn't be caught dead in the caravan park!

I'm heading down Friday arvo and looking forward to a good weekend.

Is there any definate day for the race yet? I cant make it for the whole weekend but I wanna drive down for the day of the race. I tried emailing them but havent heard back yet.

How good is the forecast looking for Sunday, let's hope they don't reserve all the good waves for the lb's and send us out in the slop.

Looks like the 5km race will be held on Sunday at 10.30am , starting at Smiths and finishing at Yalls main break with a little loop at the end to make it interesting. I would suggest heading to Yalls main break Sunday Morning to confirm as the course may vary on the day. Swell is looking rather large for Sunday especially for those who make the SUP finals as they are late in the arvo.

cheers rog, i got an email back from justin majeks (event manager) and he said the bop race will be held on sat but couldnt confirm what time. is there a bop race sat and a down winder sunday? im confused!

Hey Marcus, the email I got from Justin said surfing heats on Saturday and then semi's and finals on Sunday with the BOP race at 10:30 Sunday. Weird sort of course running from smiths to yalls then do a loop back out to the main peak and in again. The 20km marathon was post poned due to logistics.

The comp just happens to coincide with the South West Craft Beer Festival being held at Palandri all weekend.
A good mate of mine is organizing it, so if anyone would like to attend let me know and I can sort some free VIP tix.
