I've been reading this forum since day one, enjoying DJ's adventures, Casso's videos, Greenrooms transformation, Robbo's videos, and the many other stars in here. It's clear most people who've tried SUP are having a great time.

As the kitesurfing season is in a lull here in WA, thought I'd give SUP a go. Went down to the Starboard SUP demo a Cottesloe and had a taste.

Hmmmm...interesting I thought, but not my thing. But something niggled at me, so I organised another demo.

Had about 10 sessions now and confess I'm fully bitten by this thing and am down the beach first thing most days.

I'm catching waves & laughing - sucker cam next?

This morning was awesome .. down there at sun-up, a mild offshore breeze, some hefty lumps coming through .. got two hours in the surf .. noice!

Really looking forward to trying a few boards and exploring this sport to the max.

A big thanks to all of you in here who inspired me to have a go.

nice one Laurie -and welcome to the club

its always fun being ahead of the curve - but i dont need to tell you about that!

if you dont already have em - you will soon notice a 6 pack and gorilla chest and arms developing..

i seriously cant believe how good this sport is for developing fitness and strength - your kiting fitness will go thru the roof.

pretty much the same thing happened to me. had a go and couldn;t get it out of my mind. i started out just believing for fitness and small waves, surf my shortie on decent waves. well i've been on my shortboards bugger all, only in small shore breaks. everything else its all been about sup surfing. totally opposite

Same here-I was one of the short board scoffers at SUP riders-now I'm a total sheepish convert-giggling away like a grom in the surf-laughing at my shortboard mates' stink eye antics.......I'm still madly keen surfer (on my 601) and kitesurfer (unstrapped 601 surfboard)-it's all part of the same board orientated water lifestyle.....

Ian Robbo, you say what everyone thinks about this great sup love, can't remember the last time i rode anything but a sup in the last eight months, and like you have been surfing for over 45 yrs. Though many of us don't know you, I know there would be a great vibe with you in the water. Rodriguez.

I've SUPed with Robbo and can tell you that there is absolutely a great vibe in the water when he's out there.

Greenrooms transformation

From day one my shortboard mentality kicked in
Then as I had an open mind this sport has taken over my life
I dont even know what a shortboard is anymore
SUP for life... oh and windsurf when its windy
