I ride the 808 LSD and have ridden a bunch of them.

They're great boards with a 'surfing' feel rather than a distance paddling feel.

Have advanced (for a SUP) bottom curves, rails and bottoms (concaves etc.) as you'd expect from a renown surfboard shaper rather than a windsurfer designer/manufacturer.

Depending upon where you are I'm sure you'd be able to get a demo.

Disclosure-mates of mine own the Walk On Water business and I know Luke.

I have spent a fair bit of time on a 9.2 and absolutely loved it. Very responsive board that has a real "surfboard" feel on the wave. They tend to sit lower in the water than a lot of other sups so they can feel a little wobbly at the start although they aren't unstable or uncomfortable at all. The most fun I had on this board was in fast waist high waves when I really had a chance to run all over the board, trimming, turning, top to bottoms, quick cutties and just using all the wave and all the board and it just puts a big smile on your face every single wave. I rode the board on one reasonably big day and it felt very safe and stable and predictable on the rather bumpy and shifty waves.

I weigh low 70s and I reckon the 9.2 would be ok for maybe up to 85kg comfortably (IMO) so the 9.6 would have to be very comfy for a much bigger surfer than me.

I believe though that the smaller LSDs (8.8/9.2) are not what I would call a beginners sup even though they would be fine for a lighter surfer - they are performance sups and if you have a bit of experience then they will blow you away. Sorry its not exactly a lot of feedback on the 9.6 but the boards look very similar and aren't all that different in volume so I can only assume they would be equally as awesome whilst accomodating a larger person than myself.
Hope this was some help.

A kook at my local beach went from zero to "hero" when he got an 8'8" LSD!
I've seen him ripping in 1ft, to 10ft on it.

What SUP cuz.......I have spent a bit of time riding the LSD 9'6 on my way down through the different board lengths from what I started out on to what I am riding now, which in fact is only it's little brother (the 9'2) and found the LSD 9'6 to be the most responsive board I have ridden in that length (IMO). Coming from a shortboard back ground this board had the same feel on the waves face and didn't feel like a "tank" as some boards do when riding a wave. I put this down to the "rolled" surfboard like rails and the single to double concave running through the bottom, its basically a blown up surfboard/fish and feel exactly like that when you are surfing it.
I do have to agree with what Billboard said"They tend to sit lower in the water than a lot of other sups so they can feel a little wobbly at the start" but found that a small adjustment of your feet (bring them closer to the centre of the board) solved that problem.
Below is a link to a previous post from Casso who rode the 8'10 (even smaller brother of the 9'6 & 9'2) which I am aiming to get on this summer, and a link to the guys over in NZ who are distributing LSD SUP's (and also Simon Anderson SUP's)
